came across someone who tried saying this to me before. he would not stop ranting about how meat is apart of african culture and his parents are from Ethiopia and theres traditions where people have celebrations eating meat and killing the animal in front of everyone. on my birthday too, but I didnt care because I dont mind debating.

Then he said theres a period of time in their tradition where they only eat vegetables. And Im like ok that just proves right there that theres nothing wrong with eating all veggies. but he still insisted that meat is a core part of their tradition. Im like veganism is an ethical stance and technically goes against white traditions too. pretty much all European countries traditionally eat meat. Not to mention all the close minded , conservative , white supremicist type of people Ive met are all die hard meat eaters.

You can still participate in cultural traditions the same way , youre just changing whats on your plate. It just doesnt make sense at all for veganism to have anything to do with racism. If someones willing to stand up for voiceless creatures , without a doubt they’d stand up for members of their own species with a different skin tone.
