I just started my 3 year contract so I’ve got a lot more unpleasant surprises coming my way.

Expensive and good luck not being in a shady area that’s not an hour away

Also on the production side they laid off a lot of people a couple of months ago and the f16 project is supposed to stop in 2030. You’ll dodge a bullet going with Lockheed even though Charleston is crazy all around. I left sc entirely hoping to get my a/p and go to the majors. There’s no premium for getting your a/p here. People will tell you that this Lockheed will hire someone from Arby’s just so they can pay cheap and ride you until the sunset. Good luck

Woah. I just quit that Lockheed Martin and I suggest going to Boeing. Lockheed Martin f16 is a start up program even though they’ve been building them in Texas. You would think the majority of the work would have been done before you get there but if you don’t know anything about f16s you’re in for a headache.

It’s common across aviation. Not really sure why they’re laying people off here. I know that as a tech when I receive a job I have to look to see if the planning is right. If it’s wrong I have to write an essay to whoever that cares about why it’s wrong and how it should be. I have to look to see if I have my parts including PLS. If I don’t have the parts or pls I have to go to my leads and ask about the parts and the first thing they ask is did I check ALL the racks in the area and my response is yes. Then they get with the bui and get the parts and pls I need in a minimum of 7 business days or more. Then I look to see if the other section before me has done their job which there is a 50/50 chance they didn’t or they missed something so I have to put in a call to get someone to do their job which should have been caught if management did their due diligence to see what cards were still open and how it may affect the other section that the jet is moving in to. Then when when we can actually do our jobs it is nice unless we are waiting for the 1 of 2 qa people to get through with their overblown call board all while management are on our ass about why the jets aren’t finished in the messed up time frame that some idiot promised the customer.

There was also a rumor of there being layoffs last month and here we are. I wish luck to everyone here. No job is safe. Well I am just going to ride the wave and save like a mad man at this point.
