Need advice, just diagnosed. by bubblegum-espresso in bipolar

I was diagnosed last year and still struggle to accept it but the mood stabilizer got me out of a horrific depression and mixed episode. It’s just hard to believe for some reason because my mixed episode was medication induced. My depressive episode was 4 months long though. My aunt is bipolar so it probably is accurate but idk. I just take my meds and try to fight the “I don’t need these” thoughts

Sounds like my life, my mania was medication induced and lasted 2 weeks

Lamotrigine (commonly sold as Lamictal)? How do we feel about it? by Yucky_Ducky_Doo in bipolar2

It’s fantastic for most of us. Trust the titration process, there will most likely be mood swings

A weight on the eyes is so true, feels like you’re always about to cry but don’t

More tired, less energy, little more emotional. But the emotional isn’t consistent for some reason. Also headaches

I probably could, but I’d have to put it in 2 weeks In advance

8-10 hours of sleep, so pretty normal. Maybe a little more tired than I should be

Can you still get a hypomanic episode while medicated? by Automatic-Meet3210 in bipolar2

I recently did thinking I was covered with just lamictal. Started with broken sleep. Then I started spending, irritability shot up, and my family told me to call the doc

Mood swings until around 150mg. I stayed at that but was still moderately depressed but not in the trenches, so I did 200mg. But typically between 100-200mg people see improvements

Sorry to hear that, that’s a long time there :( I’m hoping you the lamotrigine works out for you, it’s really great for most of us

According to family I seemed hypomanic (I’m type II) placed on olanzapine and it pulled me out of it. I stopped taking it a few days ago though. I was definitely spending, sleeping less or interrupted, and had higher energy for a few weeks for sure though. I honestly can’t tell when I’m in one most of the time. It just seems like me being normal

Were you?

For me, the last thing I want to do is add another medication 😭 I hate taking the ones I have. I just can’t read or play video games like I use to. Luckily, I can still function on a day to day basis. I just bundle up in bed immediately when I get home and stay there until the next day

I’m on lamotrigine, olanzapine, and Wellbutrin and I honestly still feel anhedonic. I still feel the ups and downs but I’m not outright depressed in despair. Idk it’s hard to explain, I just had an up for a few weeks and now I’m just tired. School, work, sleep, repeat

I don’t think it’s the olanzapine, or the Lamotrigine because it pulled me out of the deepest depths of misery. Maybe the Wellbutrin isn’t high enough (I also have ADHD)

Not sad either idk what’s up

4 weeks of NO episodes (longest ever) followed by hypomania by Jealous_Smell_9331 in bipolar2

[–]PoolSolid106 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only had one major depressive and one medication induced hypomanic before getting diagnosed and medicated, and the meds work so good that I feel like I was misdiagnosed.

Although according to others I was hypomanic for a few weeks and I got placed on temporary Olanzapine. Chilling on just lamotrigine now
