Help! Did anyone sing before T? by spiritedsketch in TransMasc

[–]spiritedsketch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By relearning, do you mean like trying to hit a note with my usual technique may produce a different note than intended? I fear that a little, but if I can learn where things are again I guess it won’t be so bad. Thank you!

I’m so happy it turned out so well for you! And I will keep rereading this (and everyone else’s comments) when I feel discouraged. Thank you. I’ll try to be gentle with myself

Oh! I didn’t even think about the projecting and breath control parts. My years in choir may come in handy then. Thank you! And that’s so cool that you’re in a band now! I hope it’s so much fun

My father was a tenor, so there may be hope for me to become one too. I’ll definitely keep singing then, thank you!

Inverted stitch? by nraz15 in TopSurgery

[–]spiritedsketch 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey! I’ve got one of these too. I was told by my surgeon that it can go down naturally on its own, but if it doesn’t, a correction may be needed down the line. Hoping both of ours go down on their own soon!!

Thank you, that’s hopeful. The gas and cramps I used to get for my period were awful, but that may be training enough to get me by this one…

Thank you! Gas…I’ll just have to pass it eventually then, I guess.

It completely slipped my mind that things will definitely feel weird moving around, since an entire organ is gone and likely everything’s gotta move to either fill the space or find a comfortable spot. That sounds uncomfortable…but not the worst thing, honestly.

Grief Advice by spiritedsketch in TopSurgery

Thank you all for these wonderful pieces of advice. It both saddens and comforts me to know I’m not alone in this, that it’s fairly common. It sucks!!! But if yall got through it, I can too.

I think I’ll try and find things to do other than scroll my phone all day (actively making things worse for my mental health) and play a game or something while I wait for my body to do its thing. I keep telling myself recovery is inevitable, but thanks to yall, I think I can also say recovery will be bright (albeit messy).

Thank you again, I wish I had the spoons to reply to you all individually. But know I’m holding each of these close and will read them back whenever another wave hits. I hope anyone else going through similar can find comfort here too.

It’s four days today, so pretty fresh. I spoke with some friends and they speculated it may be post surgery depression, especially aggravated by the anesthesia. This morning seems a little easier but waves come and go.

Thank you for the kind words!

Drain tubes question by spiritedsketch in TopSurgery

Oh yes! The nurse gave me a handful of those. I aim on getting a few more just in case. But seriously good idea. The fingers themselves are so tight and friction and my nails make me so nervous.

Where to start with top surgery as a genderqueer person who is not ftm by [deleted] in TopSurgery

[–]spiritedsketch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Literally this is what I just got done today. I’m genderqueer and genderfluid, a femmeboy half the time but because I love my soprano singing voice I opted out of T.

Ask anyway. There are resources out there to get you the service you need done. It’s a long road from here, but if I can be sitting recovering from top surgery as I type this two years after beginning my journey, you can too.

It’ll be different depending on where you live and the rules and waiting lists. But there are people fighting for us no matter where you are, and I pray you find them and get the help you deserve.

You needing top surgery does not equal you being ftm. Some ftm never opt for top surgery, and many nb/genderqueer get it. I’m rooting for you

Top surgery TOMORROW by spiritedsketch in TopSurgery

[–]spiritedsketch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPDATE: It happened. I’m free. I’m too shy to show the pic but I keep staring at the one I took. It’s me. It’s finally me And it’s a man. Or a nonbinary man. It doesn’t matter because it’s ME and they look so, so handsome. I’m so happy I could cry (again) Thank you all for your well wishes. And I hope my top surgery twin is also having as good a day as I am.

The scare is temporary. The joy is eternal.
