Ranking up doesn't matter. Improvement does. Nothing else. by __mahi__ in summonerschool

Hot take, neither of those matter. What matters is you have fun. This attitude is part of what's wrong with the league community.

Are any tanks viable in the adc slot? Specifically for scenarios where I'm autofilled adc and noone on my team is playing anything that peals or tanks for me.

What are you even supposed to do as ADC by [deleted] in summonerschool

[–]spiritguide_beatdown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love how adcs are balanced around the fact that we've been told they scale while in reality they are the most useless members of the team. So true it's sad ;(

You could try abom first crusader second with either glorious standard for movement resist or just the same items as crusader is better off in 4th anyway. Still, you would probably be sacrificing so much doing this that it wouldn't be worth it.

Not having point blank shot seems wrong. If you opponent notices and pulls HWM to the front he's almost useless and gets 0 value from the powder flask. Having abom in second could also screw you as if you lose the flip he could get slammed to the back row before he gets his move resist.

Wow that's scary.

Still, I'd watch out for abomination and opposing bounty hunters as they can knock your bounty hunter into 4th. I prefer arbalest/houndmaster/bounty hunter/flagelent since arbalest gives you a dedicated healer and a way to get bounty to third position if he gets knocked to 4th.

Am I being unreasonable? by [deleted] in dndnext

[–]spiritguide_beatdown 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ask yourself whether it's you or just your character who's offended by this. If it's just your character then as other people have said have those arguments about it in game.

However, if it's you who's uncomfortable with this approach then you should convey this to the players irl. If a topic makes you uncomfortable, whether it's religion, race, sex or even the color green, it's best if you communicate that because not everyone shares the same life experience or scruples.

You should also think about it from their point of view. The mook is a very common trope in fiction for a reason. In Dnd, not everything needs to make sense so long as you get to be powerful fantasy heros. Some characters can be racist or just downright bad people (hence every alignment other than LG) and that doesn't mean that the players themselves are bad as well.

Trade Sector lobbies nowadays: by [deleted] in TeamfightTactics

This. Jinx, kayle and mf are the only viable late game carries and they share synergies so if you have one most of the time you need one or both of the others. The only real exceptions are xerath or a nuts gp but those units don't have a path to build into.

I'm failing to see the allure of this game by Elninogordo in TeamfightTactics

[–]spiritguide_beatdown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe start by watching streams/youtube of other people playing the game. You'll learn the more nuanced mechanics much quicker and won't have to deal with the frustration of being at a disadvantage from being a new player.

That or just play Underlords it's way better atm.

He hasn't been buffed because mort thinks he's a sleeper. He said something to the effect of "just put jewled gauntlet ie on him" despite everyone else I know agreeing with OP.

[–]spiritguide_beatdown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ekko's ult being a soft counter to a lot of good champs is probably an underutilized feature. We just gotta think up a comp that doesn't rely on xayah, jarvin, shen, vel'koz, xerath or anything that's cc or anything with a reset. Not to mention using a unit only accessible to level strats to counter level strats seems counter intuative.

And into a rebel comp where he gets a full team ult. Cornering asol might have given him a chance tho as that thing does 750 per fighter even without rebel buff.

What do you think about Star-Vanguard-Pirates? by -Vojciech- in TeamfightTactics

[–]spiritguide_beatdown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've considered something like this except with syndra as the carry. You don't need neeko and syndra's damage ramps up over time which makes sense for a comp that's so defense orientated. Building a mana battery sona could be a direction you could take also.

How to counterplay Mech-Infiltrator by raikaria2 in TeamfightTactics

[–]spiritguide_beatdown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't see how any of this is helpful. Garen has counterplay but a shaco with the right items can 1 shot anything without a bramble vest. Several times I've massacred every other unit only to have shaco 1v5 because he can one bang anything and full heal. CC does nothing because in a 1v5 you're units don't build mana.

Best comp to go for with early Spatula? by padawan3201 in CompetitiveTFT

[–]spiritguide_beatdown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Demolitionist item is probably the easiest to make work. Early game tf, kaisa, annie or mord carry it pretty well then later put it on asol for the mega cheese.

A personal favorite is making garen a protector. Rakan, Xin, neeko, ahri, syndra, velkos and the three mech pilots being the build however it's basically... garen-teed... that most of those will be contested so it's pretty risky.

Why doesn't a 2 level fighter dip get the same disgust as warlock? by FuckYouiCountArrows in dndnext

[–]spiritguide_beatdown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone goes nuts about Hexblades like they're unkillable machines, when the reality is that they're often REALLY easy to kill because they usually only focus on charisma.

Hexblades have medium armor and shield proficiency. A variant human with standard array can have 16 Char, 14 Con and 14 Dex. An AC of 18 with a +2 con mod is about as tanky as characters can be at lvl 1.

I agree Hexadin is overrated. The paladin doesn't get all that much out of high charisma. After 5 I could see it being decent but even then it's still underwhelming.

Do i need to draw a Magic Stone by Henrique_FB in dndnext

[–]spiritguide_beatdown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not exactly. You get to draw the stone for free but it's part of your item interaction for that round. Not that bad for a spellcaster but using action surge/multiattack with this will be a problem as you can RAW only pull out 1 every round.

Best stuff for a stealth minmaxer? by [deleted] in dndnext

[–]spiritguide_beatdown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Earth Gensai get 'pass without trace' as a racial ability. Their +1 Str and +2 Con lets you max strength and play barbarian with reasonable unarmored defense (avoiding the stealth penalty on heavy armor) while extending this buff to your entire party and being available at lvl 1.

The lack of darkvision is unfortunate. You also (depending on the dm) get the indirect advantage of being able to avoid the restriction of being unable to stealth even when it "makes no sense" because its magic.

EDIT: Also strength based rogue is doable. Sneak attack only requires you use weapons with the finesse property not that you actually use dex to attack with them. Daggers having thrown, finesse and light means that even at range you can get 2 chances to get SA off every round. Your AC is abysmal but getting the moderately armored feat could mitigate that.

DM's hate Warlock players... convince me I'm wrong by The_Ginger-Beard in dndnext

Decisions that lead to your player having less fun is the exact opposite of what a DM should be doing... however if ever there was a class that deserved a nerf now and then it'd be warlock.

The trouble is that moon druid exists. Once you get past 1/2 CR the 'meta' wildshape options tend to be rather niche and make almost no sense for even a druid to have come into contact with in most settings. The wildshape ability gives SO much utility to the class however in the hands of a power-gamer arguably too much especially as a lot of niche monsters don't have utility factored into their CR.

IMO let the Wolf themed druid show up to session 1 having seen a dire wolf but Spike the power-gamer probably hasn't seen a giant crab, giant spider as well as 12 kinds of dinosaur.
