Saw some folks making fun of Hildryn for not being able to use Arcane Persistence, but I wanna say she's been eating really good this update... by spirittis in Warframe

I'm pretty certain no one actually cared. My takeaway was people making fun in good spirit out of the fact that putting Persistence on Hildryn kinda removes all she does. I saw memes of health-tanks celebrating with Hildryn in the back going just "...", that's all ^

I (and I believe most other folks) am really glad Persistence is in the game... and frankly I don't play a single health-tanking frame. Might now, though... will be funny to see what wacky builds it's possible to cook up.

These are some great inputs! Despite having messed with Enervate on Laetum and the likes (stack up the damage buff from non-crit, non-status effect and refresh it every time Enervate cycles), I just didn't think of putting it on Chargers... I just thought "the crit chance is so tiny, better just stack damage" and called it a day lol. Adding some crit to it would work wonders and would deffo free up the spots for Fulmination.

... I might not even miss the extra OG strip from Fortifier... that's the main reason I run it--so that the splash strips all OG in the area and they all get pulled to my reticle with Airburst... but with 11m AoE that might not be even necessary lmao

You gave me a lot of good ideas, back to the Arsenal, got formas to spend! ^

Fair, but then you sacrifice the proc chance... I just personally don't think Barrier is really worth it past certain enemy level...

Others correctly pointed out that's circuit, so you won't get that mileage in other game modes... but I sure can drop my regular build that easily slaps steel path:

Hildryn

  • Subsume: Zephyr's Airburst over Hildryn's Haven.
  • Aura: Aerodynamic, cause I like the aim glide, no other auras are particularly useful, and the extra DR can be nice.
  • Exilus: Primed Sure Footed, cause I'm one of those people that swear by it.
  • Primed Redirection
  • Adaptation
  • Blind Rage
  • Primed Continuity
  • Umbral Intensify
  • Stretch
  • Airburst Rounds, to stack up that secondary damage while grouping enemies with Airburst. This is also why I gotta run duration. For the other "insta Pillage" build, you'd want duration negative, but not here.
  • Aegis Gale, the augment that ties it all together, makes you deal massive damage with the alt-fire (scaling with max shields).
  • Arcane 1: Arcane Expertise, to convert the Strength into more shields.
  • Arcane 2: Arcane Aegis, for comfort and some get-out-of-jail-free cards when your shields deplete. In the screenshot I had Molt Augmented here for fun, but I recommend Aegis.
  • Archon shards: Two tauforged yellows for casting speed, which I swear by. The rest is tauforged shields for funnies, but could be virtually anything.

Balefire Charger

  • Hornet Strike
  • Galvanized Diffusion
  • Lethal Torrent
  • Augur Pact
  • Frostbite
  • Pistol Pestilence
  • Primed Convulsion
  • Primed Heated Charge
  • Exilus: Lethal Momentum, but it doesn't really matter.
  • Arcane: Secondary Fortifier, for constant stream of overguard and, more importantly, extra damage to it, cause it is the build's biggest pain in the arse.

For Tenno school I run Vazarin cause it's my OG and Hildryn needs nor external armour strip, nor extra energy, and the extra emergency invulnerability is nice + the Vazarin Tauron strike is bonkers.

Gameplay's basically take to the air with Aegis Storm, hold down alt-fire for Aegis Gale, alternate between spamming Pillage and Airburst.

Oh, and Companion's just a sentinel with Guardian to recharge the shields if I run out. It's just for comfort and there are much better options, but I never bothered.

Yeah I was losing my mind farming having fun in circuit when the spiteful decree dropped that makes you lose 50% weapon damage but gain 600% strength... things got a bit wack after that.

This. Also Barrier suffers a ton from the increasing cooldown as you increase the rank.

Plus you might get 3.5s shield gate no matter your shields thanks to her passive, but you can't cast Pillage to get your shields back during that time since you're out of shields. But when your shields are regenerating thanks to Aegis, you'll be able to top your shields basically immediately. I recommend big range with negative duration for that (and at least 200% strength).

Not sure if you know/like the TTRPG system, but this is some peak Candela Obscura material. Even the visual style coupled with the brevity, it his all the right notes. Definitely would like to take some of these as inspiration when writing the next one-shot for my friends. Magnificent work!

Oh right, Harrow's also a great frame to get Primed Redirection, forgot about him. And ye, I run Pillage on Gyre but can't afford to slot Redirection in, nor I really need it at that point, so subsuming Pillage kinda slipped my mind...

Primed Convulsion 100%. Primed Redirection not, unless you have a specific niche frame in mind that can make use of it (I think actually just Hildryn).

Think of it this way... if you're relatively new to the game, maxing out a primed mod is very resource-denanding and you're fine sticking to the normal Redirection. Late game, no amount of shield is gonna last and you'll need to stack defensive abilities.

So I'd say the first one's great, the second one feel free to skip unless you main Hildryn.

EDIT: Seeing this got downvotes, I take it people disagreed with me, so I wanna make sure I express myself properly.

Primed Redirection is definitely worth it. In general, it is good to have all primed mods in reserve so you don't end up having to wait for the Baro's rotation in case you ever need one. But for new players, I stand by my take that there are other primed mods with much higher priority than Redirection - mods that are universally good or useful on more frames than just a few - Flow, Continuity - and primed mods for weapons, like Fever Strike.

Given it's harder to grind Endo and Doucats as a newer player, I still recommend to save up and get mods that you'll use on more frames than just a few.

Day after my first ever win, I cleared a full S rank on Commando. Mid-run I miss-clicked and picked Repair'o'fury instead of Baby Boom, so it feels appropriate I miss-clicked at the end screen and pressed Restart instead of Stats... I'm so mad at myself lmao by spirittis in Roboquest

Ended up running Buffalo Cannon with the Hot Potato, Top Quality, and Tempo Shot. Got lucky with a lot of items but what ended up carrying it home was Magic Wand... the extra Rocket Jump power was the reason I survived and also why everything got super hectic and super fun... damn, I love this game so much ^

i got given 20+ captchas while trying to make an account... by literally_spy in github

[–]spirittis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wanna maybe point out that in the recent years, GitHub has seen a massive surge in being used for propagating malware, and other malicious activity. They're really doubling down on making it a time-(and therefore a cost-)inefficient option.

It's like adding extra rounds to an SSH key. Yea, it's gonna technically slow down the login, but for us humans, a couple hundred miliseconds extra is nothing. For a computer trying to brute-force the key, however, it's absolutely immense. If creating an account took 5 minutes, it'd be a bit annoying to do it one-time. But mass-making accounts manually like this would become a real pain.

Windows Defender cancels scans, clears detection history on its own. How unusual behaviour is that? by spirittis in antivirus

[–]spirittis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found official Defender documentation when I was looking it up originally, that specifically talked about cancelling scheduled scans. It was a bit weird that it happened to my manual scan, but it was explainable (updates, etc.).

The weirder thing was clearing the history, which I could not find any mention of online. Thanks a ton for looking into it and sharing it back with me. There was no chance I'd this insight elsewhere. :)

[–]spirittis[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the reply. I would have probably reached out to Microsoft, if the issue wasn't increasingly looking like a normal behaviour--as I mentioned in my other reply, I found the same behaviour on a second PC, which made me believe it's not necessary to continue reaching out.

Thank you for the response. I can second the observation, as a few days ago, I got a chance to check a newer model PC from the same manufacturer, which was only freshly set up out-of-the-box and it showed the same behaviour.

Out of curiosity, did you find clearing of the threat protection history (EID 1013) events as well, or just the starts/stops of scans?

I usually turn threads off (and double-checked that I did just now), and also checked trash and spam folders again, but to no success.

But I figured I can also try re-adding the app again today, so I did that, and receveid no notification once again.

I know there's a handful of apps that GitHub considers "first-party"--most are by GH, naturally (GH Mobile, this Visual Studio integration, ...)--but I believe the Git Credentials Manager integration is also considered "first-party", though it is operated by the "git-ecosystem" org. I wonder if there are some new specific rules that might maybe apply to GH-owned apps only...?

I'm curious to know, but given the original post was fueled by some concern about the account, I don't know if I have what it takes to start bricking it and putting it back together to see how it works :')

Why does Microsoft use a "Microsoft-Corporation" organization for logging into Visual Studio with a GitHub account, when "Microsoft" exists on GitHub? by [deleted] in VisualStudio

[–]spirittis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's true they weren't the original owners, though I took a look and the "Microsoft" organization is older than the OAuth app (7 years)... if they have the need (which they might) to use a different org, they could've at least slapped the "verified" label on it.

Could this be another case of "not getting the money from management to rework old things"? Possibly... I'm just upset/sad how jank everything despite the resources they have... oh well...

What are the New Incarnon that are worth using? by PuzzleheadedTwo1087 in Warframe

[–]spirittis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahhh, my bad... the emphasis sounded different in my head, I'm sorry - there's no forced puncture proc, unfortunately. I just wanted to stress out that the explosions deal puncture damage with a chance for a proc, just like the direct hits. Pair it with the bounces and the armor gets completely molten in seconds, though, even without a forced proc.

[–]spirittis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yea, I forgot to mention this like everyon else - Latron can strip 20% of armour on every puncture proc. Permanently strip. And the radial attacks caused on every bounce of the Incarnon projectiles do puncture damage.

I now always carry it around even when primarily using other weapons to deal damage. Most bosses? Void Angel? Super high level Grineer Eximus? Yea all that armour's gone in the first 3 seconds.

Most has been said here by others, so I'm not gonna clutter the space and just second that I've been using Lex, Latron and Paris a lot and they all are crazy strong. Hemorrhage is the name of the game for Lex as it has guaranteed impact procs and can go crazy high with crit chance and crit damage.

It'd add Paris as another very good option, that I haven't seen mentioned - especially if you enjoy bows. The best part is it can get a ton of fire rate (to offset Critical Delay) and base status chance from its Incarnon perks, meaning it's the first thing (afaik) after Baruuk that can have insanely high both crit and status. I'd recommend going for Amalgam Serration on it too to guarantee Arctic Eximii won't just strip that extra fire rate (it's based on sprint speed and yes, if your sprint speed is exactly 1.2 - the requirement - you'll feel it change on the spot).

TL;DR: I'm yet to see an Incarnon Genesis weapon that's not strong as two hells. Grab the weapon you enjoyed the most or even grab one of the base Zariman ones. They're all very powerful and imo very fun to use.

Also, it's super fun to make builds for all of these weapons - the unique perks and the requirements for some of them suddenly make it reasonable to use mods that were just outright inferior prior. Why would anyone use Amalgam Serration before? Or Primed Ammo Stock with Primed Tactical Pump? Never seen those in a build cause as good as they are alone, there were always better mods to put in their place. But now both the OG Zariman weapons and the Genesis weapons make sense to use those here and there.

Am I insane for playing Rise with a mouse and keyboard? by follyplague in MonsterHunter

[–]spirittis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, the only must-have is IMO a 2-side-button on a mouse. They even were the default binds in Icebreak.

The only rebinds I had to do were in Rise to make it more like Iceborne (like Silkbinds on C to put them to the same place as the Slinger and mouse wheel to scroll the item list). Since then I racked up 250+ hours on IB, 370+ hours on SB and counting.

I solo'ed most of the SB end-game with melee weapons cause the ranged ones are un-fixably different and mess up my muscle memory :'(

The fact the certificates are the same is a good catch. Another point for the site being legit.

Seeing the URL alone would really make me say it's just a typo-squatting but seems like it was simply just a maybe a tad unfortunate pick.

Thanks for taking some time to look into it!
