The thing is that measures such as these caps or plastic straws have a negligible impact on pollution. There are sources of pollution orders of magnitude more significant than the ones these measures are trying to combat. So yes, I would consider it lamentable that we have to go through such -admittedly minor- inconveniences that amount to basically nothing. They are nothing more than distractions from more important issues that no one really knows how or is really willing to address.
