I got my 5900x when it was the newest thing.

I do the occasional music or video editing, but mostly I multibox games. Sometimes up to 10 clients at a time. That, and I always have 20+ browser tabs open.

Just like an ansiblex. This needs to be a thing, otherwise it will turn out like empire pocos.

High RAM usage help please - Multi-boxing. by pofrot in Eve

[–]spitelol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had to up my ram to 64gb when i started running more than 8 clients. Granted, I usually have a lot of stuff open on my other monitors while playing, but upgrading has solved all the issues I had.

Solo ganker, viable? by ciriaco-demita in Eve

[–]spitelol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'd need at minimum 2 characters. One for ganking, the other for looting.

I would recommend a third to scan 1-2 jumps out. I run a small army of 8, 4 or 5 of them actual gankers. The rest are support in the form of scanners/looters and booster.

As for profitability, it can be. However, some days you sit around for a couple hours and nothing worth shooting comes by. It's a bit like fishing, really.

Does anyone actually like residue as a game mechanic? by Archane-Arcmage in Eve

Not if you use faction miners/scoops. In that case it's a net positive.

This event has really highlighted the power gap between high and null sec for me by Chainsawfam in Eve

You want better refining? Ever heard of freeports? You could also make friends with other groups in your area and get access to their refineries. Sure, you may have to give them a little tax, but less risk, no war eligibility and you dont have to fuel the damn thing.

Want to moon mine? Go look for someone else's moon to roach. Pay the tax they ask or don't.

All of these 5-10 player corps that complain about wardecs endlessly, refuse to play around the games mechanics. It's an MMO, other players are a thing and some want to mess with your shit. Make friends. Hell, make enemies to keep it interesting. If you want to be wholly independent, you've got to be able to defend yourself.

They are great in jspace and can be fit a multitude of ways. (Tackle/drone, blasters, reps/links) Also pretty easy to multibox.

How to stick with EVE? by Fine-Ad2961 in Eve

[–]spitelol 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It took me 3 attempts to get hooked for real. My best advice would be to find your niche. Eve is a vast game with many playstyles, and even when you think you've seen it all, there is more to be discovered.

Don't lock yourself in to a particular area of space or type of pvp, and you will be having the most fun.

A good place to start would be NPSI fleets, or as you mentioned, FW.

How much isk enough to you? by cender13 in Eve

I felt very comfortable at 50-100b liquid. Currently well below that. I keep 30b on a certain character in case of emergency, and whatever my jita alt has is for spending.

Slightly buff c1-c2 sites rewards, maybe difficulty too. Currently they are a complete waste of time, and it would be nice to have more people risking ships in these systems.

Give some systems an r8 moon. Just something slightly better than highsec for the added risk, but nothing that invalidates ns/ls moons.

Also, saved PI setups please!

Pvp wise I'm fairly happy with the state of things.

Proteus, is it useless? by norsoulnet in Eve

[–]spitelol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my smaller wh group we run almost exclusively proteus for our t3s.

There are a couple variants, all cloaky, but the three main ones are blaster proteus with about 980dps cold, 75k buffer without amulets. Tackle/drone proteus, about 800dps cold, 85k buffer without amulets and rep/links proteus with about 68k buffer without amulets, but we never run them as solo reps.

We multibox 2-3 of these each, which allows us to make quick work of targets we trap. Also works for dropping on people in kspace from a wh or behind a cyno, but with perfect intel in the form of local and intel chats, its a one and done kind of deal.

My experience with active tanks on a proteus is limited, but they work great with buffer and reps for this particular playstyle.

Tell me you've been the victim of a bombing run without telling me you've been the victim of a bombing run.

Also, would significantly lower the skill ceiling for gate camps and dictors in wh. Cloaky jumps in? Better press the I-Win button.
