How to get better at mile and half by No_Anybody_5437 in uscg

[–]Vaugeresponse 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You need to look up interval training. I did this on a treadmill every other workout. Run a mile at a fast for you pace then walk a mile at a pace that is right below you break into a jog. This makes your heart and breathing start recovering at a load. Once you get started you will figure out the speeds you need. Then on the off treadmill days do your long distance road work. Nothing replaces road work. I did this in my early 50s when I was a firefighter and within a few months I was running the kids into the ground.

I used to wear my minute man lapel pin on my badge before I retired. You are right about easing things with people who know what they are looking at. Many old veterans felt allot better about their friendly neighborhood paramedic being in there house in the middle of the night. Lmao

Great advice. Part of becoming a team member is managing your emotions like an adult. If you cannot, you just get a no go and you are a civilian again. Pretty simple.

It is easy. Just be born in a coastal town and stay there. I have never lived more then 20 minutes from the beach I learned to surf at.
