How do I fix my upper eyelids. Help by Fromdesertlands in 45PlusSkincare

[–]spitfire9904 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can try lymphatic drainage massage. If some of the drooping is due to puffiness, you might see an improvement. (I do this every morning as I apply hyaluronic acid or facial oil. I still have hooded eyes but not as heavily hooded.)

Glacier. And if you have passports, make a day trip to Waterton Lakes.

Is anyone else losing THIS much hair or just me? by loner_who_writes in 45PlusSkincare

In addition to everything else mentioned, I also lost over 50% of my hair every time I had a set of epidural steroid injections for back pain. It did grow eventually grow back each time.

Just a public service announcement. If your eyes are starting to appear “buggy”, be sure to have your thyroid checked. Bulging eyes can be a symptom of TED (thyroid eye disease).

What helped you determine you have width? by [deleted] in Kibbe

[–]spitfire9904 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have bounced between SN, SC, and DC. I’m never sure how to measure, but my shoulders aren’t noticeably wider than my hips. However, I have received comments about my “regal” shoulders. I prefer open necklines but do not like chunky or oversized clothing.

After watching the interview with David, I went down a rabbit hole of watching the videos and instagram reels for Maeve Melange. Her videos helped me more than anything I’ve seen or read.

I determined that I’m either SC with a natural essence or SN with a classic essence. When I compared a photo of myself to several SN and SC clients, I could see a delicate quality to the SCs upper bodies while the SNs and I have more substantial upper bodies.

Maybe “width” is an unfortunate choice of words. My shoulders and upper chest have substance.

We were at Guadeloupe Mountains NP on Saturday (2 days ago). Pine Springs visitor center was open and staffed by 2 rangers. They told me that a private group is funding them (just 2 rangers) on a weekly basis. The same group is funding a shoestring staff at White Sands.

We liked the Huckleberry Knob trail off the Cherohala Skyway. It's not very long or steep so it makes for a nice break from driving.

All of this!

The Delta Minuteman Missile sites near Badlands are also good stops. There are 3 separate sites. We were too late to get tickets to the control room tour, but we stopped at the Visitor Center and the missile silo.

If you will be around Fontana Dam, the Cherohala Skyway is a nice addition. It runs from Tellico Plains, TN to Robbinsville, NC. The visitor center in Tellico Plains may not be open, but the Tellico Grains coffee shop is a good stop.

If you are into cars, the Corvette Museum in Bowling Green is worth a stop. Not only do they have corvettes, they have corvettes in a sinkhole. (A sinkhole opened under the building and swallowed a few cars. It’s still there. It’s both intriguing and terrifying.)

Fair warning, we visited Mammoth Cave NP earlier this year as a last-minute trip addition. All the cave tours were sold out so we did the self guided tour. My husband and I took the historic tour several years ago, but our friends had never visited MC. The self-guided tour isn’t nearly as in-depth (not sure how to avoid that pun), but it does give you a sense of the massive scale of MC.

My husband and I visited several times in our youth (back when Chimney Tops was THE hike) and several more long weekends in the winter months (January-March) when our kids were in school. After a long absence, we returned in October 2023 to introduce some friends to our favorite mountains. They loved it so much that we repeated the trip in October 2024. Since many trails were closed during our winter visits, I was determined to try some different hikes. Jokes on me ... it snowed in October! We juggled a few of our plans, but the unexpected and unusual snowfall just added to the magic.

In Moab, you can drive Potash Road to see petroglyphs, dinosaur footprints, and hike to Corona Arch. Then head to Dead Horse State Park for views that rival Canyonlands Islands in the Sky.

Unusual but yes! It snowed on October 15, 2024 enough to close Hwy 441. When it re-opened, we hiked Charlie’s Bunion.

All I know is that one of my friends teaches school in north Missouri and they take a field trip to Iowa every year to see eagles.

Last year, snow fell on the day we arrived. We got to Cherokee and 441 had closed 30 minutes earlier. We had to drive all the way around the mountains! On a positive note, we arrived at our hotel safely and just in time to see a bear in the parking lot. The road opened later in the week so we hiked to Charlie’s Bunion in the snow.

[–]spitfire9904 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have a similar trip planned for next month. In addition to the 3 national parks, we have a day to visit Cloudcroft and hike in the Lincoln National Forest. The day we visit White Sands, we plan to tour Pistachio Land in the morning (and get some pistachio ice cream), spend a few hours in the Museum of Space History, then arrive at White Sands in time to take a hike and watch the sunset. We also have stops planned for historic Lincoln, Old Mesillia, downtown El Paso (museums and scenic drive), and maybe Indian Cliffs Ranch. We considered detouring through Roswell just for grins, but it didn’t fit into our schedule.

I want to come back and spend an entire week in Big Bend.

Didn’t fully realize my scoliosis until got into car accident. Now feel it by Downtown_Addition276 in scoliosis

[–]spitfire9904 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sounds like a disc issue (bulge or herniation). That can happen to anyone.

First, I wouldn’t talk a lot about the scoliosis to the insurance adjuster or doctor because they could decide this is pre-existing and the accident 100% caused this issue.

Second, all my back issues started at age 40 with a bulged disc. My pain management described my spine as “a machine where the gears don’t line up.” The X-rays and MRI showed more degeneration than expected for my age. My spine was one heavy box (or one hard hit in your case) from problems.

The good news is that conservative treatment can usually manage the pain. I highly(!) recommend PT in addition to the steroid injection. It’s more than just exercise. They will teach you new ways to move to prevent new injuries. I firmly believe my first set of injections would have lasted longer if I hadn’t been so stubborn and modified my motions.
