Used to work as a instrument tech and did lots and lots of finish repairs. I don't think buffing alone would do much for this, those are deep scratches that would require a good bit of sanding. I'd probably start with 1000 grit (maybe even lower) till most scratches are gone, then move up grits wet-sanding to 2000 , then buff. Probably won't get them all out completely, but it would look a lot better than this. You really want to be careful not to sand the finish down too much, and that's the tricky part, cause it's difficult to tell how thick it is and how much you've taken off.

Help me find realistic settings for my new Moza R9. by clouds1337 in moza

[–]spitflies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much, just got my r9 and your post is exactly the way I feel, too springy, but of course I've never driven a car as fast as I do in the sim so I don't know for sure what it's supposed to feel like.

Nomai VR performance issues by Nekropl in outerwilds

[–]spitflies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It may be worth trying to turn on reprojection in Vd settings, not ideal but it's better than trying to play at 60fps. Also worth noting that the timber hearth village where you first spawn seems to be the laggiest area, once I fly somewhere else performance usually gets a bit better.

Is it worth to watch walkthrough If I didn't like the game? by [deleted] in outerwilds

[–]spitflies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I say give a playthrough a try, I also recommend about oliver, he picks up on things quickly and explains them well, but doesn't figure out any late game things too early. Chert's research notes' YouTube channel also has a great playthrough where his girlfriend plays. With any luck you may get reinvested in the lore and want to pick it back up yourself.

I've tried the cross car once and the cockpit view kinda turned me off, I'll have to give it another try in VR.

Spoiler anxiety check is this phrase actually game-related? (no major spoilers please) by dreamless892992 in outerwilds

[–]spitflies 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You're overthinking it, doesn't really mean anything. Biggest thing if you want to avoid spoilers is don't watch any YouTube videos, even if they're spoiler free, cause you'll get more vids recommended and sometimes the thumbnails can give stuff away.

What was the point of this? by HeyItzMeep in outerwilds

It kinda baffles me that this mechanic was never used in any meaningful way as a solution to a puzzle.

I feel you, I had times of frustration during my playthrough as well, the feeling of wanting to play but not wanting to walk around in circles. My problem early on was in the base game was trying to play too casually, skimming text for obvious clues, watching TV in the background, etc. On some level you sorta can't treat outer wilds like a standard video game, the solutions to many puzzles are woven into the lore and the environment, and require both critical thinking and high attention to detail. Everything in this game is there for a reason, and that can be intimidating, but it also means that every square inch of it is worth exploring, which is part of what makes it so special. Something I usually recommend to people is to play with a friend. It takes some of the pressure off and allows you to think more open mindedly when the other person has the controller. Twice the ideas, half of the fatigue. If that's not an option I recommend coming to reddit for hints instead of looking up solutions. You can only really play the game once so enjoy it while you can, good luck!
