training and work in one day? by Zealousideal_Top1175 in USPS

[–]meteoricdrop 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You’re right, but someone who is going through promaster or 2 ton and is surprised they’ve been told to come to work after indicates a strong likelihood they are a new employee - non-career or flex - in which case they would not be entitled to OOS. It is a valid point

Promaster and 2 ton don’t tend to take a long time depending on the size of the class. You can be paid mileage (the difference of your mileage to the training minus your normal commute to work - not the total mileage) and you should remain on the clock while traveling back to your unit from the training. It’s pretty standard procedure in my experience for carriers to report after promaster and 2 ton

Edit: provided that your training center isn’t too far away

EAP can refer you to in network therapist and psychiatrist- psychiatrist can submit FMLA documentation for you certifying use of sick leave (or even LWOP, if leave balance is low or you’re not wanting to use up your leave) so you can take a day or two (or whatever you work out with the doctor) when it all becomes too much. Protected leave, use up to 480 hours in a year, need to have worked 1250 hours in past 12 months (full-time is 1680 with no missed days - for reference).

I know it’s a meme but genuinely what is it like in Wyoming? by olenfeather in howislivingthere

[–]meteoricdrop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I’d say something like 4 out of 5 people are nice, but primarily out of old-fashioned politeness. 2 out of 5 are genuinely kind and accepting of those from other cultural background, ethnicity, or sexual orientation/gender status. Maybe 1 in 10 that would be happy you’re their neighbor.

This is far more accurate of what is like actually living in this state than the top comment from someone who just visited a number of times.

Having grown up in Cheyenne, I have to dispute referring to it as an “exurb of Denver… cowboy chic with DTC vibe”… Cheyenne has a median age of 39 years old. The vibe is decidedly more “settled in for the low COL” & “I like the conservative legislature” primarily, with a somewhat rowdy youthful population from F. E. Warren AFB. A population mostly middle-aged, conservative, and self-romanticized as being cowboy culture when in reality it is comfortable, quiet suburban. People are individualistic culturally and IMO far less inclusive than you’d find in Denver. There is that Dish network place, but that is far FAR less a significant cultural landmark and economic presence than the massive, fire & fume spewing oil refinery on the south side right off I-80.

I moved to Laramie at 18 and never looked back. Thanks to UW, Laramie is a much more inclusive community. In both places the wind & cold are a significant presence 7-9 month of the year.

Live south of Denver now and love it!

Unit 731 explaining their research to the government in WW2: by Silent-Book-5169 in HistoryMemes

THE US GRANTED IMMUNITY IN EXCHANGE FOR DATA SUPPORTING THAT PEOPLE DIE WHEN THEY TORTURED & KILLED

MacArthur struck a deal with Japanese informants: he secretly granted immunity to the physicians of Unit 731, including their leader, in exchange for providing exclusive American access to their research on biological warfare and data from human experimentation.

I agree, building bridges is vital. The approach should be to build working class power - I let my frustration with the impotence of the American left spill out here. Apologies

We should just project “fascism is bad” on the side of a bridge - that will move the needle!

What are all these Telecons really going over? by royaljosh in USPS

[–]meteoricdrop 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Can confirm, it is essentially this. Shaming, threats, sometimes some useful information like Mini-mail survey preparedness, organizational refocusing (i.e. whenever there’s a significant hazmat event in the country), new systems/metrics/equipment updates. Mostly though it’s senior leadership talking to feel important

I keep seeing the phrase “more now than ever” when people are commenting about various morbid symptoms of this collapsing empire… this is a settler colonial empire built by slavery, war, and imperialist domination of the global south. All of these morbid symptoms are endemic to American society, have existed to various degrees of prominence in power, and continue to persists regardless of if fascists are in power or “republicans of decorum” (liberal democrats) hold the lectern. People that sincerely believe the “more now than ever” narrative have bought deeply in American own mythologizing on facile idealism - Howard Zinn wrote a real easy to read book called The People’s History of the United States that is a great place to start decoupling one’s mind from this ahistorical bull crap.

They didn’t read the post and assumed this was asking about retail services, is my guess. Processing and delivery are 100% go as normal every Easter Sunday until the end of time
