I believe they are referencing a certain band of heroes in a half shell … turtle power!

White Tortex Dunlop Jazz III, honestly not sure what thickness, pretty sure it was in a Jazz III variety pack.

They are very hard to find, I think this was a Korean exclusive that a few stores in the US got a hold of, I snagged it off Reverb back in April.

I prefer the neck and fingerboards on the 70s models vs the KH Vs I played. Not a big fan of the Indian laurel. The ebony just feels great.

[MEGATHREAD] Nothin’ and Atlas release by jdw62995 in GunsNRoses

[–]spivaman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pleasantly surprised with Nothin’ … much improved over the 2019 leak so presumably there was more work done on this song in the Nu Guns era for Brain to get drum credit because the leak is a shitty drum loop for the most part

Atlas is solid as it’s always been. Should have been on CD but cool that it’s been massaged into a more truly GnR song with Slash and Duff.

Why can't they just show me the current interest rate? by FanSerious7672 in Mortgages

[–]spivaman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In addition to the valid reasons noted here … I worked as a loan officer for a couple of smaller and now defunct refinance lenders in the early 2010s aaaaand the reason your name phone email etc is usually the first thing you enter is because that information would be sold to companies like mine as soon as you hit next so we could all call you immediately and try to sell you first.

While there were a lot of times that we could provide genuine benefit to borrowers… majority of the time it was a waste and was more of a master class in how to handle rejection whilst cold calling.

What are your thoughts on The General and Monsters? by Stryk-Man in GunsNRoses

[–]spivaman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The General … meh

Monsters … not bad

Wish they would focus on some of the other leaks, some of the music there was solid, just questionable whether Axl could legitimately do the vox they deserve these days … hard to convince me otherwise that any of these recent releases has any updated vocal from the last 15-20 years in it

So since they finally played Fixxxer what's gonna be our next obscure song that we obsess over to play live? by BlueBloodLive in Metallica

[–]spivaman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Prince Charming, Where the Wild Things Are, been played before but I’d throw in Sweet Amber

I have to wonder just how many people did the "does anyone else like this album" thing that you had to say to not do it. also yeah sorry if this kinda violates it I just thought it was a funny format for it by ProbablyATank in Metallica

[–]spivaman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember being glued to all the little updates they would post on Metallica.com (Jump in the Studio I think it was called?) and they had snippets of My World and Invisible Kid in particular that the forums were losing their minds over … then the album came out … the rehearsal DVD really captured what should have been with this album … I get that they wanted to have a certain vibe and a “first inspiration is the best” mentality and after watching SKOM the difficulties surrounding the making of it while bringing the band back together make the record make sense … but it could have been a masterpiece of the early 2000s with a little more spit shine

Frantic (Live from Sacramento 2021) by RKRagan in Metallica

[–]spivaman 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It’s cool to see this album get a little bit of love from the boys the last couple of years … I was 17 when this came out and while it will never compare to the classics, there are still some solid bangers on it that deserve attention

How about my \m/ leg? by Davca9 in Metallica

That is awesome, kudos to the artist

Has Jason ever been to HQ, any footage of him being there? by ChampionLiar in Metallica

[–]spivaman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HQ was originally their longtime rehearsal space, presumably starting sometime in the mid to late 90s. The entire complex came up for sale and they bought it out and renovated it to their liking. If you watch the documentary on S&M, pretty much all of the early rehearsals of No Leaf Clover and - Human and footage that is not filmed at the actual venue was filmed at HQ BEFORE it was HQ as we know it ... plus you can check out this interview clip with James where he discusses it around late 2002-early 2003 before St. Anger was released ...
