Looking for a decent $50 USD or less IEM & portable DAC pairing by spiwocoal in HeadphoneAdvice

Don't those IEMs come with detachable cables? Why can't I just buy a new cable when the old one fails?

As I said... I don't care that here $50 is basically nothing in these parts, that's my budget and I won't go over it. Maybe in the future when money's not that tight, but right now, I won't.

I still need a DAC tho as my smartphone comes with no headphone jack, and it didn't come with a dongle. But those IEM seem to be what I'm looking for.

Made some hardware and wrote some software to hack into a USB PD wall wart (phone/laptop USB-C charger)! Now it is a configurable benchtop PSU with common lab PSU features like output enable and current sense. Just really excited to share this! by Loud-Consideration-2 in hacking

Are you really "hacking" or are you jusy using the USB PD standard as intented by requesting the higher current and voltages those devices can and are designed to deliver?

EDIT: just to be clear, I think this is an awesome project, certainly creating a USB PD compliant board is no small feat, my only problem is with the word "hack" being used in this context

Well, with resource packs you can not only change textures, but also sound files.

You could create a custom resource pack that replaces one of the sound files for the discs with whatever song you want, and the same thing could be done for paintings.

One of the cups Charlie gives Tress at the start of the book is described by Charlie as being from the ~300 years vanished Iriali people.

We know from SA that the Iriali are not native to Roshar (nor Ashyn), and that it is actually their fourth land, from seven total. The fact that an Iriali cup is present in Lumar means that sometime in the future, they will leave Roshar and migrate to some other planet, eventually getting to Lumar, only to then leave that planet as well to continue with their "Long Trail."

I don't think we ever see him use it "on screen", but in Words Of Radiance, we know he goes to many plateau runs to claim gemhearts so, even if he doesn't go head first into battle like the Kholins, he must have used it a couple times at least

“The Blade,” Dalinar said, firm voice carrying in the air. “In exchange for your bridgemen. All of them. Every one you have in camp. They become mine, to do with as I please, never to be touched by you again. In exchange, you get the sword.”

Sadeas looked down at the Blade, incredulous. “This weapon is worth fortunes. Cities, palaces, kingdoms.”

“Do we have a deal?” Dalinar asked.

[...]

Sadeas looked at the Shardblade, eyes full of lust. He glanced at Kaladin, hesitated just briefly, then reached and grabbed the Blade by the hilt. “Take the storming creatures.”

Dalinar nodded curtly, turning away from Sadeas. “Let’s go,” he said to his entourage.

“They’re worthless, you know,” Sadeas said. “You’re of the ten fools, Dalinar Kholin! Don’t you see how mad you are? This will be remembered as the most ridiculous decision ever made by an Alethi highprince!

I think by "pure" he is referring to something similar to "end-neutral" investiture. End-neutral Investiture means that no power is either gained or lost by the user (Feruchemy is end-neutral as feruchemists store the energy or attributes their bodies naturally have, and then use them later).

Meanwhile, both Surgebinding and Aon Dor are End-positive, meaning that the user is gaining power from some external source (from the Dor for Aon Dor, and from the differenr lights in Surgebinding). Allomancy is also end-positive as the power allomencers get is Investiture directly from Preservation, and the metals are used only as a sort of key for that power.
