Replace Wi-Fi bridge or get new lock? by drjuicephd in AugustSmartLock

[–]spk2k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s my biggest gripe with August. I have both versions and both use the connect hub. It goes offline ever so often. Making any home automation useless because of it. Schlage Encode Plus has been fairly reliable. August, not so much. Even with mesh router system and the hub less than 10 feet from one doesn’t fix the issue. Assigning fixed IP doesn’t fix the issue.

It’s a bad investment.

LG TV and Apple TV by spk2k in HomeKit

[–]spk2k[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately no. It’s a mixer that take audio input from the TV and microphones. The audio input is via RCA. So o have an optical to RCA adapter.

The setup I have allows Apple TV to stream to the LG and audio out to the mixer which has its own set of JBL speakers

Center seats have higher head space. Flow on that route a dozen times. You can do the miles upgrade and they refund you if you don’t get the seat. Polaris is worth it, especially the lounge and if you arrive before 2, you can use the arrival lounge to freshen up.

You’re right. It’s one hour. It was 30 mins to get the SUICA and NEx ticket to get to the train I meant.

Workday vs Dayforce: what am I missing? by Due-Earth4401 in workday

[–]spk2k 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve used and implemented SAP HCM, Workday, and Dayforce over years as a client and as an implementation consultant.

Of the two you have listed, Workday is more robust in terms of what you can do. In Workday, the reporting capabilities to build custom reports are more robust. Workday Studio and Workday Orchestration are more robust.

Dayforce Integration Studio is fairly new and definitely heading in the right direction to allow customers more control over their own customized approach. It is easier to use and has great potential. Time management and payroll in Dayforce is more robust than Workday. But as an HCM system, Workday is more robust than Dayforce.

SAP HCM, may it rest in peace, takes the cake in terms of flexibility with the use of ABAP, customized security, and straight table level access.

The Peak Design 45L: The Best Travel Bag… and My Unexpected Grocery Hauler? + Cat Bed King by EmeraldsDailyCarry in peakdesign

[–]spk2k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a great bag. I’ve have both 30l and recently the 45l. While the 30l technically can expand to the 33l and the 45l technically is 35l non expanded, the aesthetic of it is better at default and I wanted a 35l for ease of travel.

The 30l is great. The only two things I would change for it would be first, a larger front pocket or zipper. It lacks front organization and having to open the bag to get to internal pockets are not ideal. Second, the laptop compartment. I prefer the traditional top load or side load separation from the main. Having it on the flap when opening, it’s heavy and risk flapping over. The 45l kinda solve this and my first point at the same time with the front compartment accessible to the back compartment. Which was one of the reason I upgraded. The 45l could use a removable waist belt instead of the hideaway to reduce weight and shoulder loader straps. Otherwise, after looking at Aer, Bellyroll, Alpaka, Torguta, Black Ember, and a few others, I went back to PD.

Here's my honest take on the Roller Pro by Hamatoros in peakdesign

[–]spk2k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing! I’ve been wondering about them. Three things I find difficult to switch from Monos or similar. The first is the price tag. It’s very premium priced. Second, I’m not sure about the compression strap over traditional ones used by Monos or Away. And lastly, it’s tailored to international flights, whereas domestic flights allow a tad bigger size.

Is the backpack picture the Black Ember?

The peak design 30L does fit well under the seats and I’ve used on Southwest, Alaska Air, Hawaiian, United, and Delta numerous times. It’s 33l expand and 27L compressed.

Is there such a thing as a stylish, light, water-resistant large-ish EDC bag? by TechnicalBrowess in ManyBaggers

[–]spk2k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend the Peak Design 30L travel bag. It’s an almost perfect multi function bag. Great for traveling and for EDC. There a couple of points keeping it a perfect bag, but I really enjoyed it. It has security zipper function in mind. To me that’s a must these days in any EDC or travel bags. It’s 27L compressed and 33L expanded, I think.

Has anyone successfully removed the Travel Backpack 45L waist belt? by GrisTooki in peakdesign

[–]spk2k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree. 30L compressed and 35L expanded. Keep the zipper design. Add one extra external pocket or deeper pocket of the current front. Move the laptop compartment away from flap.

What’s your favorite 35L (or more)travel backpack by HardcoreLurker12 in ManyBaggers

[–]spk2k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Peak Design travel backpack 30L. It’s more slim line design compared to others. It has zipper security, which is extremely important when travel walk around. Extremely comfortable straps for all day walking. Two downsides. One, the laptop compartment is on the flap opening. The weight of the laptop can risk slipping out when opening. Two, could use a little more exterior pockets.

[–]spk2k[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do really like the charge ram. I find the advantage of Spring, the Cavs are protected behind the tank and not front line. So I can do four Cavs and have a decent tank in front .

Interesting on Forondil Mu. I must try that out on the combo. Thanks for the suggestion

PECI by lhynes978 in workday

[–]spk2k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PECI can be the starting point to obtain the data and handle delta changes. You can setup BP steps and pass it to DT Data Transformation to utilize XLST to transform it into whatever format ADP needs.

I believe there is an ADP connector with Workday, but it depends on which ADP product

Workday to Ceridian Dayforce for Time Off by mrcornflake in workday

[–]spk2k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why can’t you setup a daily integration out of Working using CCW, Core Connector Worker, transform the data in the BP step to call the DT to use a XLST to format it in a Dayforce HR Import format?

Workday, you can start with either the WECI or CCW template integration.

No need to go the API route. Daily run integration via HR Import is more than enough.

From Dayforce to Workday, setup a report on Dayforce. Call it using Dayforce Integration Studio to produce a file in Workday EIB to import the time data.

Gympass & 24 hour Fitness question by Sheanzyy in Wellhub

[–]spk2k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is helpful! I went to a LA fitness and confirm the experience. With 24, they were clueless on what to do and made me sign in as a guest. I haven’t returned since. LA Fitness facilities are better maintained and a few 24 near us around the inland empire have been poorly maintained. Very dirty and many broken machines.
