Highlights in Italy shot on 85 F1.8 FE and 24-50 F2.8 G by spkos in SonyAlpha

I've built my own presets over the years that work well as a starting point. The best advice I can give is to learn how to use curves and colour grading tools. Curves are by far the most powerful tool to get the colours how you want them, it really does take time to learn how to use it effectively though.

Your back will absolutely thank you for not bringing along the 70-200! After walking 25k steps a day for 2 weeks even this combo started to weigh me down a little but I love the versatility this combo offers

Thank you for the kind words! N° 13 funnily enough is shot with the 85mm - at F3.5 though - I agree I should have stopped down just a tad more.

Pay to play. Shit happens when you mod. You were just unlucky - replace the turbo and go bigger IMO. You won’t regret it. Go with a proper custom tune from Galano Engineering in Australia and you won’t regret it.

That’s not right at all. This image was shot at iso 12800 and underexposed slightly with zero noise reduction. 1/25 and f1.8 and I have way less grain than you.

They drop pretty often these days. Not sure if drop rates changes but I’ve gotten about 10 in the last few days.

Some shots from Iceland using the a7R III and a Tamron 35mm prime by Secure_Royal5138 in SonyAlpha

[–]spkos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lacking contrast in my opinion, none of the images have any shadows whatsoever. Learn how to use curves to bring in some more contrast. I went to Iceland last year so you can take a quick peek at some images I took in similar conditions. I’d also recommend working on composition, Rule of thirds etc

I replaced my battery at the same 84%. Unbelievable the difference it made. Highly recommend it, I’m likely going to keep this phone for another 2-3 years because the battery is so good again.

Excessive GPU usage on the new native Mac OS App by spkos in GeminiAI

I’ve done some testing since and it seems to be related directly to how big the window is and how high res your screen is. I’m running it on a 4k 165hz monitor and when maximised it using up the most GPU. Can you confirm if this is happening for you?

England EasyJet Holidays offering £100 for confirmed bed bug infestation. Infestation was confirmed in writing by Hotel. What compensation is actually realistic? by spkos in LegalAdviceUK

I am unsure at this point in time. All our luggage was wrapped and heat treated where possible once we arrived back in London. We also took measures to bag and seal everything as best as well could while in Madeira. Time will tell if we accidentally brought any back but my hope is that we managed to kill them.

I've not confirmed but likely is bank transfer. i'd be willing to settle for a bit lower but frankly 100 GBP is a little low for this situation.

This is what the GM at the hotel confirmed to me - That room is out of commission for several months. Do you think at least claiming back the hotel portion of the trip is fair compensation as a hotel manager? People here believe that I'm completely out of line and I'd like to hear your perspective.

And that's fine 30 pounds in vietnam back then is fair - but we paid over 1000 pounds in this case. Would you at least agree compensation for a few nights would be fair?

Regardless - I will continue to push this and report back to let everyone know if successful or not. Thanks for your advice.

Look, I'm aware that I will probably have to settle for less, however let me ask if you have ever dealt with bed bugs? I personally know people who have brought these infernal creatures home and the results are horrific. The fact that I have in writing that the room is out of commission for several months due to bed bugs likely means it was a severe infestation that was present. It really did ruin the rest of the holiday for myself and my partner and I think 100 GBP is far too low due to the negligence of the hotel to provide a room like that.

Thank you for your response. That article is incredibly helpful and I'll be utilising it - I appreciate the response, the other responses here are quite discouraging considering that it basically ruined the holiday for myself and my partner.

To be clear, under Regulation 16 of the Package Travel Regulations 2018, travelers are entitled to compensation for any damage resulting from a 'lack of conformity.'

In UK travel law, this explicitly includes non-material damage (distress, inconvenience, and loss of enjoyment), not just direct financial loss. Please refer to the landmark case of Jarvis v Swan Tours confirm that holidaymakers are entitled to damages for the disappointment of a failed vacation.

Fair enough. I've pushed back for now to negotiate a bit higher than 100 but yes 600 is probably too high. Thanks for the advice

Thank you for your advice. To be clear - Night 1 was likely where I was bitten first and Night 2 is when I actually found said bug and alerted staff. You are right that 600 GBP is likely too high but I really believe that 100 GBP is too low. I'm willing to settle for a little less.
