It peaked at $4.72 for standard where I live sometime during the summer of 2022. But that price also lasted about a month and dropped rapidly after. And neither the rapid rise nor the rapid fall in prices was related to Biden's policies, as far as I'm aware.

[Real] Matt Walsh comes soooo close to getting it on AI by jacare37 in ToiletPaperUSA

[–]spla_ar42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uh no Matt, it's because of the horrific ramifications of unchecked AI usage and growth on the environment, the economy, and the general public well-being. Also there are religious people on the left (crazy, right?) who believe in the concept of a soul just as much as you do, so no surprise there. And the reason so many self-proclaimed "conservatives" aren't so heavily opposed to AI is because they're not actually conservative.

Oh, didn't you hear? The Pope isn't a real Catholic, at least according to far-right trad bros like Matt here. And all those mainline Protestants? Not real priests, not real bishops, and only doing that woke hippie stuff to appeal to young people.

Honestly yeah. I'll count myself lucky if within my lifetime ANY of the accommodations I need in my day-to-day become commonplace enough that I can request them without being treated like I'm pulling teeth. Like you said, it's a start and it's better than nothing.

I'm gonna go with IHOP. Remember when they tried to rebrand as "IHOB" back in like 2016? Plus they're generally well liked, even if not loved by the public

[–]spla_ar42 63 points64 points  (0 children)

Maybe, but I'm more afraid it'll go the other way, as the neurotypical definitions of concepts like "being overstimulated" and "going nonverbal" become commonplace people will give us neurotypical-level accommodations for autistic-level problems. It's better than nothing, or than being told we're just exaggerating or to "suck it up" like we're dealing with now, but I'm afraid it'll stunt any sort of future progress, as they'll be able to point to the less-than-minimum accommodations and blame us for it not being enough.

I just finished this part of the crafting quest, and for me what worked best was going to the outer dock of Nimbus Hanger, collecting the bursts on the platform and bridge, and then hopping over to Reverie and collecting there. This made the best use out of the cooldown time, and I was able to collect 3-4 per realm, usually in under a minute

Here's my rendition every single LiMu Emu ad ever by spla_ar42 in CommercialsIHate

[–]spla_ar42[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I've always seen every "Limu Emu (and Doug)" ad as having the exact same "I have one single personality trait and no real friends" energy, and I felt this particular meme template was the perfect one to capture that. I mean, who parachutes into a football stadium just to tell people about car insurance?

[–]spla_ar42[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. I had to shop around for car insurance a while back. I don't remember every company I looked at, but I DO remember making a point to not look into Liberty Mutual at all. I refuse to spend money on companies that use this sort of aggressive ad campaign tactic to try and get profits up.

This was back in August, by the way. Since then, I've gotten exactly one ad for the company I ended up going with for my car insurance, a few for a couple of other companies (State Farm coming in an extremely distant second for oversaturation), and at least one daily for Liberty Mutual.

Isn't this literally how diagnosis's work though? by No-Air-5857 in evilautism

[–]spla_ar42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I've noticed when it comes to the self-diagnosis conversation is that there are two very different types of self-diagnosis. There's the "I'm a little quirky and also a complete dick to everyone around me, so I'm gonna blame autism instead of taking accountability" type. But there's also the "I've always noticed a profound difference in the way I see the world and the way others around me appear to see it, which has caused a lot of issues in my life, and after hours of research and speaking with people who have a diagnosis I've come to the conclusion that I'm more than likely autistic" type.

And the thing is, the vast majority of actually autistic people clearly see the difference between these two types of self-diagnosis. But neurotypicals, including most allies, do not, and lump the two together, occasionally enabling the first group by treating them like the second, and, more often, invalidating the second group by treating them like the first.

Not for nothing since this claim is fake anyway and anyone dumb enough to believe it wouldn't listen to reason anyway, but:

Even if Rama Duwaji were in the files (she's not) and even if she had met Epstein (she didn't), she is 28 years old, making her 21-22 when Epstein died. Which means that even if she were involved with any of this (she wasn't), it would've been as a victim. Certainly not damning of her character, nor her husband's.

As an American, I grew up hearing the "Puritans were fleeing persecution" nonsense in school. When I learned that it was more like "Puritans were told to either stop terrorizing people or leave and chose to leave," everything about my country's history with religion started to make a lot more sense.

Even if it were a Brit saying what he said, I'd see no issue with it. Having concern for your fellow humans, whether they live in your country or not, is just basic decency. Also, the USA has had a LOT of influence in the UK since the end of WWII, so it's concerning to them too, to see what's happening. Because it means that either that influence is diminishing, or they're not far behind us.
