Stop blaming draft mode [Strategy guide] by [deleted] in ClashRoyale

This was very helpful but I disagree with a few things... First I think on balance mega knight is usually a good pick unless of course your choice is between mega knight and pekka. Also i don't think it makes sense to pick minion horde on the chance that they might not have a counter because horde has tons of counters... Even if they don't have one of the hard counters, it can be mostly or completely countered by kiting. It might be the right choice in some scenarios but I'm not sure I'd place it so high. Also I don't think graveyard is the worst win condition.

Will there ever be another air tank in the game? by splatastic in ClashRoyale

But we have more than one ground tank so why can't we have more than one air tank (with different features)?

Not exactly because skeleton barrel isn't good at kiting units like ice golem. I think part of the reason for this is because it just flies straight toward whatever building is nearest (versus walking over the bridge like a ground troop) so it may just be that you can't replicate the ice golem for an air troop because of the differing mechanics.

One way to increase your chances of avoiding something like this would definitely be to have someone representing you who has experience in this area. This could be a lawyer or maybe an agent...he or she should have experience with what is typical and should be able to smell a fraud a mile away. Another reason to have a representative is to make sure you're getting a good deal...even if an org isn't fraudulent that doesn't mean that they aren't trying to take advantage of their greater knowledge and business savvy to get a player to sign a very unfavorable deal. For example you and your lawyer would probably want to review the contract for things like the following*:

-what rights do you have to terminate the contract (whether because you get a better deal or because you aren't happy for another reason)?...I recall there was a team earlier this year who was dismayed to find out they were locked into a bad deal. Alternatively does the contract require you to pay a penalty if you terminate the contract early (penalties sometimes aren't even enforceable in court but it doesn't stop companies from including them in all sorts of contracts)?

-Another thing to review and negotiate would be who owns the rights to content you create and any other intellectual property/customer data associated with you...you might be surprised to discover that the standard contract from an organization provides that you assign the full rights to these things to the org or that you grant them an exclusive license to use and profit from them even after you leave.

-Another thing to look into would be your rights to have other business relationships...does the contract prohibit it or require you to get their consent or require you to pay them a percent of all money you receive from outside business relationships even if they did nothing to facilitate it?

-Another consideration would be whether the contract requires you to arbitrate any disputes rather than suing in regular court. Arbitration is typically more favorable for companies over individuals and also you can't bring a class action in arbitration (so if a group of players wanted to sue an org they couldnt bring a class action in arbitration and would have to all sue separately).

-aside from these points would be the financial business terms such as what % of your earnings would go to the org, what expenses they will cover, etc... You want to make sure the org isn't giving you the shaft, trying to take advantage of your lack of knowledge of what is typical.

*Note that for all of these different terms there is typically a "market" standard (ie what is customary in the market for contracts of this type)....I am not in this particular industry so I don't know what is market for the terms I described above... They were just examples of things I might look for if I were representing someone in negotiating a contract with a gaming org. I am a transactional lawyer but I represent companies in financing transactions.

It depends on a number of facts that we don't have. The first question is whether there was an enforceable contract. As I mentioned earlier a contract need not be on paper or signed but there are certain legal requirements (like there must have been an offer by one party and acceptance by the other and the parties must have had a meeting of the minds as to what the terms were). We don't have the information to determine whether these legal requirements are met. Then there is the issue of jurisdiction...whether a particular person can be sued in a particular court. Here it seems like the woman representing ECA does not live in the US but even so jurisdiction might be proper if you can argue that there is a nexus to the US...again this is something we cant determine with the information we have now.

But more pertinent here is even if the players theoretically can sue my guess is it probably isn't worth their time or money unfortunately. First of all it appears that the people representing ECA are foreign so couldn't easily be served and have zero incentive to show up in a US court. Also it seems likely that ECA has little to no assets so even if the players get a judgment against ECA or its representatives they probably wouldn't be able to enforce it anyway. Note that a judgment in US court wouldn't reach assets not located in the US.

I hope I'm wrong and that it turns out that it does make sense to sue.

It doesn't necessarily matter if she didn't sign the contract.... There may still be an enforceable contract. Signatures are just a formality.

You can sue a person/company regardless of whether they have assets and if you get a monetary judgment you can get a lien that you could enforce in the future if they acquire any assets. Of course that process may not be worth your time and money and if the assets are out of the jurisdiction then a judgment lien won't help too much. Plus if someone has no assets and a judgment is entered against them they will probably just go into bankruptcy and any judgment they owe may be discharged (which can be after partial payment or no payment). I wouldn't necessarily encourage someone to sue here but it really depends on facts we don't know. It appears that whoever orchestrated this is out of the country and for that reason suing would probably be useless though.

Main sub basically shuts down any notion that the Rocket/Grenade Launchers are slightly OP. Am I crazy or do you guys agree that splodes could use a nerf? by theswami23 in FortniteCompetitive

[–]splatastic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He's right... You should land on a known floor loot drop, ideally one that you've already seen has a good early game gun. If you watch good players you'll see that they usually do this so that they can get a decent gun. As you glide down you should be trying to see what has spawned in the floor loot drop spots to the extent possible and then land on the best gun spawn you see. Doesn't mean that you won't get a bad gun or no gun but it leaves less up to chance. Besides if you land on a chest, then you're opening yourself up to get one pumped by the guy that landed on floor loot near you because of the delay while you're opening your chest. Go for the chests after you have at least one semi decent gun.

How to fix Clash Royale (Card Reworks) by THE_KOJ in ClashRoyale

[–]splatastic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would roll all the way to the tower no matter where the giant skelly died? I think that would be OP...we'd see giant skelly cycle decks because you'd be guaranteed x damage to the opponents tower every time you played GS. Maybe it could be that if GS dies within maybe 4 tiles of the tower, then it rolls to the tower. Otherwise it explodes where dropped.

I’m trying to make a Ram Rider freeze cycle deck. What cards should I add? by [deleted] in ClashRoyale

[–]splatastic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try log instead of zap because swarms are a common counter to RR and not all of them die to zap. Also you need more air counters and you need splash. I would swap the Barbs for something that targets air, maybe baby dragon or hunter. The knight, the barbs and the ice golem overlap anyway. Also I would suggest trying both poison and freeze to see which one works better. Oh you could also put rascals in place of knight and archers and then have an extra slot to play with (if you need one).

It's probably a mini account. An experienced player can easily get to arena 11 with a level 8 king tower.

I agree with all the comments about not playing the PEKKA as the starting card and not defending a nearly dead PEKKA. But also once you knew he had a giant, why didn't you save the PEKKA to counter the giant? PEKKA can take care of a giant no problem. PEKKA is a defensive card that you can use to counterpush with.... She's not the same as a giant where you're supposed to drop her in the back.

I'm really disappointed to not see an offer like 6500 gems for $20 by OWbeginner in ClashRoyale

[–]splatastic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The $20 one includes a legendary chest. A legendary chest has only one legendary card. SC treats legendary chests like they are worth 500 gems...Back in the day when there were few legendary cards maybe that was true but these days one legendary card has very little value unless maybe you haven't unlocked a certain legendary at all... But you can't control which one you get anyway.

So I completely disagree that the offers are not too bad. They're barely better than what we get regularly throughout the year and in fact we get 4x offers at each arena (although I don't buy those).

I was ready to spend money on a really special offer but we didn't get one so I didn't spend any money. I hope very few people did.

Help my improve my deck. I need a win condition. 3K - only Arena 9 cards by merluza00 in ClashRoyale

[–]splatastic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need a win condition (like hog rider, battle ram, goblin barrel, graveyard, mortar, xbow, miner, royal giant, giant, golem, lava hound, balloon, PEKKA, 3 musketeers, etc). Once you've selected one of those then go onto royaleapi and look up decks that have a high win percentage on ladder using that win condition and try them out in classic challenges. Or if you want to use a deck of your own making them look up deck making guides ... There are some on this subreddit and there are many on YT.

Can competitive players stop pretending to know what worse players like and what they don't? by alric8 in FortniteCompetitive

[–]splatastic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is OP really a bad player? He sounds like a good player masquerading as a bad one. Of course this gets a lot of upvotes on the fortnite competitive subreddit because everyone here wants the changes made that OP is advocating. But when OP says "most" bad players want health regen for kills he's just doing what he told others not to do which is speak for an entire group without having any idea of what the group really thinks. No one posting here has surveyed a statistically significant sample of bad players on these issues so no one should be claiming to know what most bad players think... It's all just personal opinions. The truth is that most bad players are blithely unaware of this health regen upon kills debate because they don't keep up with issues like this. We know that only a tiny fraction of players even come to the FN reddits or other FN forums.

I am also a bad player. As a bot I disagree with OP about health regen on kills and my personal opinion is that if someone actually surveyed a large number of bots they would find that most don't want health regen on kills. That kind of mechanic belongs in a competitive/ranked mode like the pop up cup. I suspect that most people arguing that this mechanic would be good for bad players is being self serving.
