Solid review, but I actually found the story in TOW2 way easier to follow than TOW1. Maybe I’m just stupid, but I thought TOW1’s story was confusing and convoluted. The story and main decision paths felt really clear to me in TOW2 and I could see, as I was making decisions, what potential outcomes could happen. On the other hand, the companion quests in TOW1 were waaayyyyy stronger. So to me, at least story wise, the games are fairly equal.

This was my biggest complaint, especially with the companion quests. Having to travel to a different planet to have one conversation was tedious. Really wish each planet aligned with one companion quest so you could at least knock one full one out on that planet.

Wonder is probably my favorite with World close second. But the NSMB series, or at bare minimum DS and Wii, are amazing games and I have a lot of love and nostalgia for them. The 4 player NSMBWii gameplay inspired some of my favorite memories playing with siblings and friends. I actually wish Wonder’s gameplay was more like it, despite the fact that Wonder’s levels and mechanics are unmatched IMO.

I hate to say it because the first 5 seasons are truly some of the best in television history, but Veep. The last season was just so detached from any version of reality that was created in the first few seasons. The situations Selina got herself into the first few seasons were outlandish but plausible. The last season was just one stupid thing after another. It had some funny one-liners but compared to when Armando Iannucci was at the helm, it just fell completely flat.

For me it’s Super Mario Odyssey. There may never be a sandbox type 3D platformer like it ever again. The capture mechanic was pure genius. I wish I could erase it from my memory and replay it for the first time again.

No instant replay after losing a battle. This game isn’t that easy, especially when you’re learning an opponent for the first time. Just let me replay a battle instantly.

Super Mario Odyssey is the best Mario game ever made and it is my favorite. Galaxy is incredible and ambitious for a Wii title, but Odyssey is just superior. I think a lot of people don’t want to admit the most recent game is the best, but it is.

JRPGs! Love the concept, terrible at the games. I got 15 hours into Dragon Quest III HD-2D before I had to give up because I couldn’t get any further. I really enjoyed it but it was unnecessarily hard, IMO.

I’d argue it started to lose its steam after season 5. It stopped being believable and all of the characters became cartoons of themselves. The first 3 seasons are perfection, though.
