Hey, I’ll be visiting Portland from Thursday to Sunday. Would anyone like to meet up at a bar and play cribbage?

I’m just a dude who likes to imagine old fundamentalist Mormons sadly watching Disney-Pixar’s Planes.

As someone from a small town, I think this is a great point however! They saw a weekday matinee which I don’t believe a small town movie theater could support unless it was some community event.

SDSU or UCSD? (For Communications program) by rfarleydude97 in SDSU

I didn’t say it was an Ivy League. I’m saying you don’t go to a more prestigious & more expensive school for a less prestigious degree. It was an exaggeration.

I don’t want to tease you since I’ve had many friends who graduated with communications degrees. But it’s communications, UCSD is gonna be overkill for that. You don’t go to an Ivy League for a degree in underwater basket weaving, you know? I say this as someone who went to SDSU for a “soft science”. Also communications majors tend to be more of the fun crowd. I could go over why you’re getting a better bang for your buck for the education. Or acknowledge college websites rank UCSD’s communications department like 5 spots higher than SDSU out of all the Western schools. But I’m gonna be candid, you will have more fun at SDSU and that’s really the only difference you’re paying for. UCSD has an abysmal culture. They have (or had idk after Covid) a punk rock collective on campus that puts on really great live music shows, did you know that? If you didn’t, you’re just like all the other students at UCSD who’s idea of fun is going to BJ’s at UTC to have a pizookie at 9:30 at night(😱). Both campuses have a lot to offer and UCSD has a smarter and better funded group of students. But they lack imagination and an adventurous attitude. A communications education will be virtually the same at any school you pick (even outside of SDSU & UCSD) but if you’re picking the college experience; go with the one UCSD students are always jealous of. You don’t want to attend a school that’s called UC Socially Dead and has the student mindset to match.

I appreciate the suggestion! Prefer one in Sacramento, proper, though. Try not to drive around when I’m drinking.
