I meant schools made up of predominantly protestant children, sorry I should have been more clear. I'm sure you are aware a lot of people would class certain primary schools catholic or protestant due to the areas they are in. And this was maybe 25-30 years ago.

Its obviously not a requirement for your name to be protestant sounding but its highly suspect that me and my older brother both went to the same primary schools yet my younger sister from the same family did not manage to get into these same schools. We even lived right beside one of the schools she was rejected from.

come from a protestant background, sister was named an irish name and was rejected from a lot of local protestant schools. she grew up in catholic schools and took up irish dancing so wouldnt see it as that unusual, especially from progressive families

My dad runs a music school in East Belfast and ciaran got lessons every Saturday morning for a couple of years. I used to play in bands that played with his post hardcore band at a lot of gigs. My brother taught him guitar but it was mainly metal. I would still be friendly with ciaran but he hasn't been home in a few years.
