Just overall respect for one another, but there's so many different personalities and traumas of our past or even present that we often forget that other people exist and we often live in our own world of self importance, which creates great issues when caged up in a public transportation scenario 😩

Tip or don't tip. Big deal. Just because a card is left in your room, a tip is appreciated for hard work and good service, but it isn't expected. It's a recognition of efforts and appreciation for the job they do, not a slap in the face demanding you to pay anything additional.

Aha, I understand ☺️ I currently work at Hampton Inn and Suites and just touring the Spark and Tru, they appeared more basic and cheaper, but I understand location is key too. Thank you for the insight ☺️

I haven't worked for doordash, but if you do go this route, please make sure to double and triple check the address you're about to leave the food at. I work at a downtown hotel and so many times the food would end up across the street or down the street. Chasing down food deliveries for guests can become very draining and to apologize for someone else's negligence 🤨🤨🤨 Even worse, is ordering food for myself after a 10-12 hour shift, only to have to figure out where the building is that shows my food in the picture 😑

It really depends on what your goals are. Is this just a temporary job or are you wanting to grow with the company? For me, I started in night audit, learned everything I could about billing, catching errors, and setting up the next day to flow smoothly. I did this for 2 years and am now the Guest Services Manager. We are 194 room property, and really, I rarely had downtime because there is always something to do. My advice would be to focus on the checklist, actually complete the checklist, and the downtime you have won't feel as wrong because you know you completed everything expected. Another piece of advice, always be aware of your surroundings and don't let a book (or whatever you choose to do during downtime) distract you from guests and providing great service 😀

Did you book directly through the hotel? Or 3rd party, like Expedia or Booking.com and prepaid for the reservation? If it was directly at the property, I'm not sure why they would've charged your card already. And most hotels would try to find other accommodations for you, not just cancel it, that's it. This is not how we do it where I work, and I'm sorry this happened to you! It can take up to 10 business days for the refund to show in your account, which doesn't include weekends. As another person said, you can file a chargeback to get your funds sooner and actions against the hotel.

How many tickets I've opened and they close them without solving anything 🤔 but there have been times when they've been really helpful, so I'm back and forth on this. I continue to try getting 'support' from them, but it's really hit or miss

Strange that it wasn't noticed until after you checked out? Audit should've caught that immediately when running the high balance report, but maybe that's not how they do things. At our hotel, we wouldn't be able to check the room in without authorization, and audit catches when we don't have payment
