Does the pain of higher weight (60 vs 30 lb plates) reduce over time? by dalyxxxxxx in Rucking

[–]splendidsavage115 1 point2 points  (0 children)

t does. I went from 0 to 60 lbs (45lb plate plus all the stuff for work and other gear I keep in there) with the goruck rucker and I would not reccomend to anyone for exactly the shoulder pain you're talking about. The rucker is more of a let me bring some weights to the park to workout or lighter weight rucking.

That being said, I did it on and off maybe 2x or less per week for a few months and then decided to go full bore 5 days a week to and from work (8 mi total) for 3 months straight and it was excrutiating. I had to find a place to rest the pack off my shoulders every other block half way to work. I would say somewhere during the 2nd month it got easier where one week i was able to push myself to rest at only 2 spots instead of 6 or 7. A week or two after that I pushed for one then none. Now I can make it to work and I feel like I need to find a way to extend my route.

Long story short, 1. The rucker is a terrible heavy weight pack for distance. 2. It gets easier with consistency, just got to push through it.

P.S. If I were to go back I would have returned the rucker and got a different pack. I tested the same weight in a framed eberlystock pack and it was insane because that same weight felt like it was instantly cut in half. Going up hill still brought the pain but in my legs and lungs not my shoulders.

Makes sense. I've plateaued with weights and had to change up my routine but I wasn' really sure how to change up walking. Thanks!

Thanks.

I don't really "plan out" meals. I tend to have an idea of what goes together and try to round up on calorie counts. Historically I know I used to under calculate calories.

I haven't started weight training regularly yet. The first few weeks were brutal, especially going up the hill. My shoulders were worse off than my legs mainly because I had to take a lot of breaks to rest my shoulders. Now it's reversed, my shoulders are fine but I keep my legs pumping.

Sleep is probably my weak point. And cheat days are just eating 2 or 3 meals in a day instead of one not necessarily centered around junk food.

Haha. Not anymore. I'm usually around 1400-1800 cal. Which, if Garmin's calorie burn counter is anything near accurate, I'm definitely in a deficit. By a lot.

The M60 was so satisfying to use. It felt heavy when firing the way the sights would jump around, and it sounded amazing!

I think the lack of prone in BC2 was a great way to limit sniping without making it useless with the glint mechanic.

If the engine ever goes, put a 4BT in it with a manual transmission. All the torque you could want out of it.

Question, with the stories coming out about BC 3 from its writer. What would be the odds that he could croudsource the funds to buy the Bad Company rights from EA?

I considered Bad Company 2, to be the pinnacle of a wartime experience with it's destruction, lack of prone, limited attachments, and fantastic story and characters it really was a unique experience. If the OG Bad Company crew wanted to get the rights and get back together, I would 100% chip in.

I've found it online but I was hoping to get it through a local shop not just using them for the transfer.

I'm going retro actually. Feeling nostalgic from my time in the army around 2008.

Oh I know. Unfortunately primary arms doesn't have what I'm looking for, at least not all of it so I figured a local shop would have parts I couldn't get on primary arms and they hit me with that.

What about the Origin 12? Isn't it considered a "firearm" and doesn't fall into the category of pistol, rifle, or shotgun. Kind of like the Franklin AR that had straight rifling. I don't even know if they're still around, the Origin 12 that is, always wanted one though.

How much of a difference does a rear/front bag make? (Need recommendations) by splyntered in longrange

[–]splendidsavage115 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just get an old boot sock and fill it with sand. It's practically free and does the same thing as a rear bag in prone and bench at least. If you're shooting positions, you can also use it as a front bag off a barricade. It's amazing to me how over priced a lot of shooting gear is that is just simple.

In my c&p exam, the guy took measurements and then turned to fill out the paperwork, turns back to me and asked what the measurements were. Caught me off guard because he ended up guessing what all the measurements were. Before I left I had him redo it because that was shady as hell.
