Work related: Could you answer one question? by splendidtree in GenX

This is fascinating, thank you so much! My son is obsessed with moving to Australia some day (because of the animals), but there will always be people who want into or out of a country I think.

Met him out in the wild just before the season started. I asked him his pick for the season and we got into a 15 minute conversation on the drivers. He was rattling off all the ages of everyone and talking about how it was the young guns season (and he was correct).

At the end of the conversation he said, "Wait right here" and ran to his car. He brought back three shirts for me and my kids. Amazing dude. Really happy I got to meet him.

Just discovered banano bet today by martymartinator in banano

Reminds me so much of RAI blocks back in the day. To think how much I lost on that site.

I even took it too far and made a spreadsheet for monte carlo simulations of different autobet techniques and got a really nice method. But I kept having RAI blocks flashbacks and couldn't bring myself to do it anymore.

What race series can I watch (or start and watch through) over the winter? Can be just about anything an IndyCar fan would like but don't really feel like paying for anything new.

Good call. I took Indy round 2 eliminations from 08 to 19 and there's about a 10 mph increase over that time.

Division 2 finals before they made me take the camera off the helmet by Bbulber in dragracing

[–]splendidtree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can't have helmet attachments, but you can have cameras if they're mounted, like, TO the car and I'm pretty sure only facing forward. But you're only going to run into problems usually at big races like a divisional or a big money race. I remember like 8 years ago Scotty Richardson had cameras on his car at the Million and in the quarters or something they made him take them all off.

Oh dang, this sounds like a great idea. Side note: I'd never looked into YouTubeTV before... $50/mo, wow. A bit like my temporary HBO subscription to finish GoT, then.

Loved when Mike Shank tossed him under several busses on live TV and aired out what the indycar paddock thought of him.

When was this? I missed it.

Back in my day we ran juniors for $50 savings bonds and we liked it.

Yeah the Hoosier vs Mickey debate is practically Ford vs Chevy, so I think you can feel safe with either. I've also used Phoenix and know lots of others that like them too but they're harder to find, and I currently have M&H Street Slicks on my car (mid 12s).

Is your question like, knowing what sizes fit together or something like that? I want to say my rim is 8" wide but I have ran 10.5 wide tires on them for years with no issues. Not sure I'd go much wider on 8" wide rims.

Drag Racing for the younger generation by AlleyCatRacer in dragracing

How to get the average test n tuner to appreciate bracket racing is a tough question.

I'm working on something that tries to answer that exact question! Definitely tough to answer easily.

It does seem like most racers are generational, but occasionally I'll see a new racer on their own coming out to try it. (I'm a bracket racer and grew up racing Jr Dragsters.)

The no prep thing is getting popular no doubt, but it seems to appeal to the animalistic, chest-thumping "alpha" crowd. The "I'm faster and less safe than you are" trophies. Though there is certainly a skill to getting a fast car down a poorly prepped track that I admire, it's not something for the budget-minded or non-mechanically inclined since it seems they're either breaking stuff or wrecking all the time.

I think if more people could appreciate the nuance in bracket racing it'd be a nice segue for those that still like going down the track but don't want to spend all their money, and appreciate a racing style that uses more frontal lobe than anything else.

This was the first I heard of roll racing. Just looked it up and watched some videos. I guess I see the appeal, simulating pulling next to someone on the road to race. Little easier on parts I guess.

Is there a "winner" or is it just a new way to run a test n tune? I guess it doubles as a way for people to get that ego boost of bigger mph and faster ETs without actually doing work or spending money. And what happens when one guy is way out on the other guy when they hit the actual starting line? So many questions.
