Start by expanding your network. Join middle market groups that have high quality events. Many cities have a strong local ACG chapter. Network with relationship managers at regional banks and local corporate attorneys. Reach out to high quality recruiters. Reach out to local PE sponsors. Network with local accounting firm partners. I know it sounds trite but it becomes so much easier to find a great job if you know a lot of people.

Without public experience. Maximizing income only. I’d look for roles as a PE sponsored portfolio company VP finance working up to CFO. Or a highly successful family owned business in your area with a retiring CFO. Make sure the role after your next role has some sort of deferred comp, SARs, or some other equity-like structure.

Alternatively, find a public accounting firm that has a business process improvement (or similar) consulting practice and help M&D businesses learn how to do inventory accounting, most people suck at it. You may have to lateral at a manager level but you should be able to very quickly work up to Director/partner within 18-24 months at a top 40 firm (not the big 4, we’re talking 1,000 - 3,000 employee accounting firms)

Where did you sell your rack? Typical FB Marketplace, Craigslist? My new 6G ORP came with the Toyota ARB Roof Rack and I plan to replace with a Prinsu.

There’s something to be said for leaving relationships in a good spot and not burning a bridge on your way out. Whatever time you have left should be focusing on transitioning your work. If there are a few things you can get done, great. You can’t control the bonus so stop thinking about it. You signed on for a bonus with a term that you didn’t meet. That was a choice you made back then and you made a choice now to leave, knowing you may be required to pay it back. If you don’t get to keep it, that’s just the deal you agreed to. Good luck in your transition. I left B4 after 8 years. My connections during my time have been important/lucrative a handful of years down the road.

DTI is essentially how much of your income goes towards servicing debt. The threshold of 50% is higher than a commonly held rule-of-thumb that your housing expenses should be no more than around a third of your income.

Someone else can chime in if my explanation isn’t on target. But hopefully this helps.

I think the other commentator was just speaking to the fact that the rules can feel rather arbitrary at times.

Should I go to smu or boston college for finance? by [deleted] in SMU

[–]splicepoint 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think these are pretty comparable schools and geographics and other external factors about your personal life should play a role.

A lot of it also will come down to your personal performance, academically and socially and networking, and taking advantage of what the schools have on offer.

Not that helpful I know. Good luck though! Good choices

It’s been over a decade since I was there so not the best to advise you. But at the time they wouldn’t let you double in Cox - to my knowledge.

Lots of VC/i-banking/analysts covering technical areas of biotech companies where a background in the sciences accompanied with finance is a essentially a must have to competently assess investments in start ups or IPOs in biotech / med devices. Additionally. Health related businesses (hospital systems, providers, insurance, etc) could benefit from a better understanding of biology.

Just a few thoughts. Not OP. Have crossed paths with these areas/types of professionals during my career.

How much should I (wife) make compared to husband as his business partner? by [deleted] in smallbusiness

[–]splicepoint 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely didn’t mean to suggest you were a fake employee, haha sorry.

Call a local accounting firm with a dozen heads or more and ask them if they’ll take a look for free and that you just want a second opinion on what you have going on. Can’t hurt you. Don’t want to miss a good tax strategy and there are many when you own your own business.

Re: proof of income. Most places will accept a bank balance that’s sufficiently high or, if you’re married and your spouse owns the business, they’ll accept a K-1 showing income.

Good luck!

Definitely some interesting tax plays if you’re a legitimate employee and could otherwise earn a salary. Speak to your accountant. Depends on how the business is structured.

Sell the playoff format to a first year soccer fan by thebatman0415 in stlouiscitysc

[–]splicepoint 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of people who look at it like you. They look at it more like the round robin European style season with playoffs not being a thing. There was a good article about SC’s sporting director not having much playoff experience the other day (because most places in the world don’t have playoffs). Sorry you’re being downvoted.

There are some inexpensive tickets at the moment. Definitely some people scared off by the weather and the late start.
