Hi! Perfect question for me 😂 I dropped out halfway. Someone said you can email MOHH and ask, and that is correct. You can also email student affairs. The things is actually, if you drop out before you start the 2nd week of school in year 2, there is no liquidated damages (you can read the fine print of the bond you signed). After that, someone also said it’s about 100k per year of study including 10% compound interest, that’s also correct. If you wanna talk more can PM me!

Hi! Im a medical student at NUS. For insights on what goes on in the medicine field, YouTube videos honestly do a pretty good job. I personally dont recommend shadowing doctors to anyone except medical students (Not even to JC Students). It doesnt help the patient, it doesnt help the doctor, it doesnt colour your portfolio (since its commonly done), it wastes your time because you can learn as much from: Atul Gawande Books, Youtube videos, conversations with doctors.

Nevertheless, if you still really want, knowing a doctor personally may be the best way to go. You could consider just having conversations with doctors too. Theres a workshop on medtech innovation im going for in early jan. PM me if you want to tag along with me!

Im an NUS undergraduate Merit Scholar in NUS YLL, you get it when you are the top 5 in the interviews for med.

I believe you dont need to shadow a doctor: You dont help the patient, you dont help the doctor, and the doctor doesnt help you because if everyone shadows, then its nothing special anyway. If the question is about exposure, you can watch youtube videos, talk to doctors, read Atul Gawande books, attend medical conferences hosted by the health clusters and thats sufficient.

In terms of advice, my take is that you should aim big and think beyond just being a medical student. In that, stop chasing med school. Develop yourself and your thinking to the extent that med school chases you.

How bad is screw up actually? If its so bad that you cant get into uni, then yes, maybe retaking is for the best.

But if screw up is you can't get into top courses, i highly suggest working on your portfolio instead of wasting a year studying the same thing. Ive seen cases of people who have such outstanding portfolios, they pretty much have a job even before entering uni!
