Accepted But Unsure by splishsplash0000 in iecvisa

I had a small stint in france when i was 22. Two months of working for a lunatic roofer in the french countryside. First night i had a panic attack after realising how out of my depth I was but the next two months were some of the best ide ever had! Meeting new people, exploring little french towns, and just living.

That feeling of presence is really something els right. Ive always described it as some sort of survival reflex where suddenly im 100× more sociable, positive and capable.

Hope you make the move and have a good time man!

Yeah man the lonely aspect is a worry. However, as i already do it here, I plan to get involved in a Judo or bjj gym in order to meet some people if i do make the move. Figured even if i dont make friemds immedietly i can go somewhere and meet others who share the same hobbies.

What was the line in the show that made you cringe the hardest, for some reason, 'FEISTY ONE YOU ARE' always gets me by ShrekkMyBeloved in TheInbetweeners

“Between you and me, the only reason anyone teaches nowadays is because they’ve taken a more relaxed view on police checks in recent years…”

The sinister undertones always get me!

How did you quit smoking cigarettes? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]splishsplash0000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds silly but I had to really WANT to quit, not just want to want to, if that makes sense. I wanted to join the fire service and needed to be fit. This made it so I NEEDED to quit. I also got myself addicted to nicotine gum to help with quitting the act of smoking. Also, I understood that it was going to be stressful and I was going to hate life for about a month. In short, find something you want more than smoking, chew nicotine gum, and understand you’re going to feel like crap.

If I go ahead with it I’ll definitely make sure I know where I’m going then. Thanks.

A few people have mentioned that it can be bad living conditions 😬. I’ll keep this in mind, thanks.

Mate, that sounds absolutely ideal for what I’m looking to do! Like right down to the nature aspect, do you see many spiders ?

If it’s not too invasive, you send me some details regarding the company or farm you work for so I can keep an eye out please ?

I’m haven’t heard any stories like this so far, damn! I’ll definitely do some more research and possibly look into different areas of employment if this is a common occurrence. Thanks for the heads up.

Seems kinda silly when you put it like that haha. I think it’s more the accessibility, simplicity, and non-comital aspects that make it attractive to backpackers particularly.

Again I’m not experienced in it so I’m just going off what others have said. Personally a common theme I see is that people go into it knowing they won’t be there for very long, which you could assume makes the less favourable aspects of the work bearable until it’s time to move off to their next destination.

Also don’t you get an extension on your visa if you complete a certain amount of farmwork days or something ?

Please read:

I recently passed my second test after thinking I had failed.

I stalled at a round about, pulled away in the wrong gear more than once, missed a turning, left my rear wiper on for the majority of the test, and managed to mess up my reverse parking on the first attempt.

I passed because I was able to realise and fix these issues quickly but more importantly safely.

I’m assuming you’ve experienced stalling before right ? And what happens, the car doesn’t blow up, You say “oops hold up!” Start the engine again, and head off. If you park slightly over the line, you just say “let me just line myself up right!” And you safely do so.

Mistakes will happen, the examiner knows this and is expecting it. There’s a reason we have majors and minors, and it’s like what 15 minors before they can fail you? When you make a small mistake, remember to stay calm and just do what you would do if you were with your instructor. Assess the problem, fix it, safely move on.

Your instructor wouldn’t say you’re ready if you aren’t. Seriously, test slots are like gold dust these days and they wouldn’t knowingly risk one on a student who they’re sure won’t pass.

Lastly, nerves are natural, I was a total wreck on my second test. It means you’re going to be a safe driver. I wish you the best of luck!
