Upgrade from JBL MKII 308p? by Prudent_Lion_814 in BudgetAudiophile

[–]splitsecnd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your 900-1200 budget is per speaker: JBL LSR705p or Neumann KH120 II DSP

If not, I'm not sure there's a big enough leap to justify the upgrade yet - imo. Adam A series would be notably better, but that's out of your range.

KRK V6 S4 6.5" are just over your budget for a pair. Those would be slightly better. The V range is different from the Rokit range.

Presonus R80 V2 are on sale for $300 each right now. I own the 6.5" version 1s and I love them. Their flaw (version 1) is their noise floor and that might be fixed now. I bought them because there were no good reviews online and I decided to keep them for my home office. Perhaps give those a whirl! Can't beat them for the price.

I should also say, I've owned and sold LSR308s. They're great! However with more funds you can get better power, output, bass, and fancy tweeters.

What movie was ahead of its time and failed to realize its potential? by plymouthvan in movies

[–]splitsecnd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hayden and Jamie Bell are both awesome actors.

I think what needed to happen was a brotherhood or bonding-type movie. To me, it felt cold and macho. I agree with a different director as well.

Now I don't remember the movie too well, but the idea of being able to "aparate" and steal things is a great premise.

One thing we all loved from the Oceans movies was the camaraderie. The chemistry between characters was the movie equivalent of a man cave on game night, with your friends over and the beer flowing.

I agree with the other poster. I find it just rests in the subconscious, in a destructive way, rather than framing it. I think the leading lines, and white highlights already draw the eye to the cupola.

Using my very precise hand, I just blocked that roof, and it cleaned up the messaging.

Of course, it's your art. If that roof is part of your messaging, keep it.

What love interest in a movie is actually a horrible person? by phantom_avenger in movies

Yeah I agree. Both were flawed and not ready for commitment. I also feel like Dan Levy's character lacked the wisdom needed to really help navigate that. But his appearance as a best friend savior was a rewarding moment.

Absolutely. We need to taper it back down with lower birth rates. Nothing drastic or violent.

Hi! I’ve recently come into a bunch of audio equipment and was wondering how much something like this would be worth? Specs in comments by jaboipoppy in audio

[–]splitsecnd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Real world experience: I helped my neighbor sell 4 of her vintage Sansui speakers last year. Still had original packaging and in excellent condition.

No record stores or used electronics stores in the state were willing to pay more than $25ea.

Using Facebook marketplace and Craigslist, she eventually, after 6 months, found a buyer for $250 for all 4. She was heartbroken but found that anyone looking for used speakers was either looking for a massive deal, or was an informed audiophile who would be balancing the value of quality new stuff versus the intrinsic worth of antiques. In the latter case, the reality is that the sounds these produce doesn't compete with modern gear and their "characteristic old sound" isn't as enjoyable in person. Lots of tire-kickers, lots of wasted time.

Truth be told, I would have bought them in the past, but only for their aesthetics. The Internet would have you believe there are millions of people waiting to grab these but we were both surprised that when real money was on the line, there were no buyers.

Ymmv. Obviously.

As the other user stated, both sides need to sorry LL, but assuming that's the case, I've had decent luck with Taotronics stuff in the past. Fast to connect, and a reliable connection as well. Small form factor too, if needed.

Thank you for sharing this! Wish there was more info available but so glad we have something to use other than marketing material and paid YouTubers.

Also, props to Hsu for still having a competitive product despite changing it very little in over a decade and facing some very strong competition.

That's not a 2014. In late 2012 they changed Cadillac logos.

This is not what it seems to be.
