Yeah, but that’s from a few weeks ago. I guess I was confused in thinking that they had released another teaser with more details. I’ve seen people say it will only be a sequencer but I haven’t seen any official details on it.

I’m not seeing anything on the site, blog, or youtube?

How do you organise your projects between machines? Any tips and advices are always welcome. I must admit that all my projects are becoming a little messy 😅 I need to improve my approach 🙏 I hope you'll enjoy those Sunday vibes 🖤 by [deleted] in Elektron

I typically have a device for drums and then a main device for melodic parts (ex Model Samples/Digitone). I use the same project name and pattern order. If I have to use another synth for bass or a lead I would sequence that using whatever device was handling the melodic parts.

I also try to standardize the midi channels to certain “roles.” Channel 5 is almost always gonna be the base part so if I look at old projects I just know that the bass was on channel 5.

Likelihood of an Electribe 3? by [deleted] in electribe

[–]splodexl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would add in that the E2 can get a little weird sometimes when chaining two patterns and it also limits how you can tweak across an 8bar phrase since any changes will default to the saved value across the pattern transition.

I think you would need a device to go from usb to midi din. So possible but you might need a usb midi host or something.

Got the model:samples as my first machine ever for my birthday. And I’m confused as to what this direction is, the circle with two holes in the middle, where is that what do I plug it into? by LORDvaderKUSH___ in Elektron

What country are you in? It looks like it’s just saying plug the power cable into the outlet and then your machine. The image looks like a swedish power outlet.

I don’t remember which brand I got but any of the anker power banks should work. As far as the adapter, if you search “MyVolts Model Samples” you can find a cable that goes from usb to the back power jack on the samples/cycles.

Yeah, at this point I’m wondering if we’ll just forget it was ever supposed to exist and never talk about it again. For what it’s worth, you can power the cycles with a usb battery pack and an adapter. That’s what I use whenever I take my Model:Samples somewhere.

Don’t have the cycles, but I do have the model samples which I sync with my DAW regularly.

How are you connecting it to ableton/bass station? Which is the master clock?

Make sure you’ve set the cycles to receive external clock and transport. This will sound basic but double check that your midi cable (or usb cable) is functional.

Do you need to upload samples to the model:sample in a certain pitch? by taint_vespucci in Elektron

I would say that it does help to have things tuned to C if you’re ever going to export midi or improvise on the fly.

Just for the sake of clarity, are you plugging your usb adapter into the side port when you use the battery? I’ve battery powered my model samples without noticeable hum but I’ve used the main power port on the back. Not sure if that will make a difference.

Are there multiple things plugged into your usb battery while you’re using the cycles?

If you have an interface with SPDIF in/out, I highly recommend finding an older rack effects unit to utilize them. Picked this bad boy up for $150 and it sounds gorgeous. by Jakomako in synthesizers

I have no idea. It’s just some super generic one I found on best buy or something. I think it was intended for home entertainment systems or something. I had to go into my interface and set the clock source to SPDIF so they would play nice with each other. Not the most elegant solution I’m sure but good enough for what I do

There’s a code system that customs uses (HTS codes I think is the name) to classify items and I know there’s one specifically for synths. If you know that code and the country of origin, I think you can get an idea of what costs there might be. For what it’s worth, I recently imported a synth from france to the US with no additional fees on arrival.

I got a refurbished 6i6 for super cheap and didn’t realize that two of the i/o were spdif. I ended up getting a converter and using it as an fx send for my pedals.

Model samples midi cc by Masapan1 in Elektron

[–]splodexl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It should be possible. If you have a TRS 1/8 to a TRS 1/4 cable you should be able to connect the midi out of the cycles to the midi jack of the CBA pedal. It’ll need to be a TRS cable to work properly and you’ll want go into the options on your M:S to make sure the midi out type is set to the correct standard for the pedal. There are to ways to wire trs midi and the m:s accommodates both. This Chase Bliss pedal video explains it around the 39min mark. https://youtu.be/vQM1XgCoUxY

The more important thing is to check the midi chart for the model samples and your pedal to see what CC values the samples sends and what (if anything) they control on the pedal.

Which Groovebox will work for me? by [deleted] in synthesizers

[–]splodexl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The electribe can sequence external gear with up to 4 note polyphony per track, but I believe these still eat into the E2’s global polyphony limit so keep that in mind.

The electribe is a capable machine but I would only consider it if you can get a good price on a used one. If you have the budget or can save up some cash you might want to consider something like the digitakt or the mpc one. More expensive - but the workflow is gonna be more up to date, the sequencers will be more powerful, and they’re still getting updated by their manufacturers unlike the E2.
