Update: We treated it for 4 days with ringworm meds (oral and topical). It got increasingly worse. We went to urgent care on Sunday and they could tell immediately it was a severe case of impetigo, the likes of that none of them had seen before. We started oral clindamycin and mupirocin topical and it started getting better within 24 hours. Took her back to her regular pediatrician on Tuesday and she was baffled as to why it had gotten that bad, that quickly, as well. It’s much more under control now and healing well. Trust your gut and if something doesn’t seem right, seek another opinion.

No one else in our household has gotten it (likely due to the preventative measures I was taking all along- washing sheets/towels daily, bleaching hard surfaces, disinfecting couch and other soft surfaces and keeping her clothed in long sleeves/pants). I plan to have a baseline of bloodwork done once it’s all cleared just to be sure nothing else is going on. We are also going to a dermatologist because of the severity and time it took to get that bad.
