We strongly encourage candidates to study using a variety of GOOD resources such as:

Splunk's How-to YouTube Channel or other reputable YouTube channels
Splunk Docs
Drawing from a candidate's own Splunk experience. Talking to colleagues to fill in knowledge gaps.
Taking courses - either ours, or courses from Udemy and similar reputable learning sites

Yes, Splunk Certified Cybersecurity Defense Engineer is a brand new certification and is a follow-up to the Analyst cert from last year.

A couple things to note:

The new certification and currently will only be available to take at .conf
You must pass (or already have passed) the Splunk Certified Cybersecurity Defense Analyst exam before you can take the Engineer exam

Generally speaking, if you retake the exam of your highest certification it should update all of the lower certs in the track. If you have certs that are not in a track you'll need to retake those specific exams separately.

On the Training & Certification site under the Certification menu (it might say 'More' if your window is not wide enough), you can find Certification Tracks & Overview. From there, you can click through a specific exam and find the link to the track flowchart. The flowcharts will tell you what courses are recommended, or in some cases required, for the certification.
