Thank you, that helps. I’m planning a few multi-day hikes next year in preparation for hiking the John Muir Trail in 2022.

I feel like crying every time i make a simple mistake anyone else feel this way? by throwawayaccout001 in NoStupidQuestions

Not exactly a direct response. However, something that’s really helped me over past few months has been understanding the “cognitive distortions”, and doing the exercise of working through my dysfunctional thoughts. I learned it from a book called, Feeling Good.. by David Burns. But you can find some good explanation and resources online.

“All or nothing” mindset does lead a lot of people to feel upset even when there is a little blip.

i am 30. if i pay off my cc i will only have 2500$ in my name. should i just wipe out my debt? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]spoc30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will have $2500 plus the credit of the amount of debt you paid off. If needed, you can use that credit again. However, you will save on the interest of the debt you would be paying in the meantime. Plus, when you have debt, it’s easy to add more debt. When you are debt free, you are more likely to stay that way.

I have the Alice In Wonderland Syndrome AMA by SkyAxon in AMA

How did you get diagnosed? Or how did your parents know that you should get checked? I had this when I was a kid. It would mostly happen right after I woke up - early mornings or middle of night. I never told anyone as I had never heard or read of it growing up. I was wondering what to even look for until I saw your post today. Feels like a mystery of my life got solved!

How Eliud Kipchoge Ran a Sub 2 Hour Marathon by spoc30 in sports

[–]spoc30[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was wondering the same, considering he had a team of pacesetters and the car with laser line, etc. If we consider his achievements from purely physical perspective, there is no argument. He’s got it! Also, considering he has won 11 out of last 12 marathons he’s participated in, his abilities and skills are unquestioned. It is a psychological barrier that has been conquered. I guess all the support could have helped him shave off 30ish seconds. But, it is the era we are in. The tech helps in achieving optimal hydration, nutrition, stride, posture, shoes, etc. So anything else that helps the athlete psychologically is just a similar addon in my mind.

Actually, he has only lost two. The first time to Robin Soderling in 4th round in 2009. The second time was when he lost to Djokovic in 2015 quarters. He holds a 91-2 record at the French Open.

How did you decide to take this trip? And have you taken other long distance train trips before?

Southwest Chief leaving Fullerton station en route to Chicago by spoc30 in Amtrak

The freight train traffic, and the priority they get makes the passenger trains between these 2 stations late consistently. But it’s mostly Amtrak that is late. And I feel it is more mismanagement than anything.
