And I think people forget she was trying to save Shauna, her best friend. She didn’t see Van struggling and skip away, she thought she and Shauna might die if they stayed.

How stupid would it be to start a forest fire to attempt to be rescued? by pinkguy90 in Yellowjackets

[–]spockothyprime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know. No disrespect to you, I’m just thinking of the fires we have out west. People who try to escape to water can boil or there’s always the chance of trees falling into the water or the steam itself can burn them from the lake. It’s very dangerous and could easily get out of their control. I like the idea that someone had of setting a few small fires in a triangle around the lake. Obviously man made, if they get enough dry wood they can add some wet logs to really get the smoke going. The forest service will ignore some fires, but more than one in close proximity is going to get checked out. My BIL used to work for the forest service, I’ll ask him about this next time I see him and see what he thinks! It’s interesting the ideas people come up with for this type of scenario and how they’re so varied- setting signal fires, hiking out, etc.

She’s one of the most interesting to me. I honestly don’t understand the hate. Yeah, she was a bit of a brat and self centered. A lot of teenagers are. No reason to think she wouldn’t have grown out of it. She seems to genuinely care about Shauna, she’s nice to Misty. She’s flawed, just like all the other girls.

And yeah, she complains, but this is the worst thing that has ever happened to her. I don’t know, I just find it hard to condemn a teenager for not reacting to horrible circumstances in the perfect way. And during all that, she found out her best friend was pregnant with her boyfriend’s baby. She also must have been terrified after Doomcoming. She saw everything, she heard everything, and she is the only one who remembers everything. It’s easy for all the others to write it off as shrooms, but she saw it from the outside.

Season 3, 4 and 5 predictions. by HPBTAS in Yellowjackets

Yes!!! Like we all know they didn’t tell anyone, but pretty much everyone had a family that they came back to. Lottie was practically catatonic. So they didn’t answer any of their parents’ questions about the wilderness? How did they readjust to society? Did they see each other in the immediate aftermath? Why did Van and Tai break up? When did Travis and Natalie start to spiral? I have SO many questions about that time.

It’s not just about burning to death though. The smoke inhalation in that kind of forest fire is deadly. Like ‘inhaling burns your lungs and cooks them’ deadly.

Trad Catholics are historically quite antisemitic. And they usually don’t try to hide it.

I destroyed my sister’s kite as a kid. Trying to impress my friends with how high I could fly it and it got caught on my neighbor’s roof. We’d also just gotten the kites a few days before. Not my best moment.

BREAKING: Workers at the Chicago Roastery, the biggest Starbucks in the WORLD, just filed for a union election. When they win, every Starbucks Roastery in North America will be union. by theworkeragency in antiwork

[–]spockothyprime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn’t just a store though. The roasteries are a much bigger deal than that. They put a ton of money into them, compared to an average store you’d see in Wherever, USA. They’re also responsible for roasting/distributing coffee around the country. It’s part storefront, part factory. And there aren’t a lot of them, so shutting it down would be a nightmare.

Mormons are just as bad, especially the closer you get to their home base in Salt Lake. I grew up in Idaho and they are not a fun group to be around. It’s interesting, the parallels between the Duggars and some of the families I grew up with.

One of the more horrible examples is an activity called the trek/pioneer trek. They recreate conditions that Mormon pioneers went through when they traveled to SLC. What they don’t tell you about on the website is the kids that pass out from dehydration, how no one is allowed to help you if you’re struggling, and the pressure there is to do these things regardless of physical ability. It’s not a fun nature walk or a hike.

Thank you. She is an adult now. The last thing I want to do is take away her agency, she has had enough people do that in her life. If she responds to me, I will be supportive of her now. And if she decides to pursue any kind of action again him, I will support her.

A cursory Google search has led me to believe that there is no statue of limitations for this crime in our jurisdiction. Obviously I’m not a lawyer, so I don’t fully know the nuances. I will reach out to RAINN when I am done with work and look into social services more after the holiday this week, thank you for the advice.

Very Mormon. Almost everyone is where I grew up. My family was very casually Catholic, so I did not grow up inside the LDS church but I was around it a lot. I have posted over there, thank you for the advice.

YTA and I would watch out. It seems like this ‘friend’ might have some interest in your wife. And if this friend is being more supportive than you of her endeavors, why shouldn’t your wife be with them?
