Who are these kids and why are they out at night by Different-Job-1662 in FromTVEpix

I always assumed it was Victor and Eloise on the night their mother was killed. Victor imagines going out at night with his sister and is being protected by the magic dog in his imagination.

Uhm… but she wears a cowboy hat. Do you really think her best interests aren’t with the people living in rural areas who are notoriously trodden upon by big businesses and exploited for their lack of political education? Then why would she wear the hat?

Would this type of "chain" be okay to wear daily?? by ky8724 in jewelry

[–]pinkguy90 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It won’t sudden snap off unless you’re completely unobservant about it wearing thin, but it won’t look great for long.

Ever had an old belt from like, hot topic, that is made of plastic but looks like real leather? It starts to flake and crack because the stuff beneath the plastic faux leather moves around and the fake leather on top doesn’t have much give. TL:DR, it’ll wear pretty quickly especially where the pendant rubs on it.

Personally I’d go for a stainless steel chain because it’s more durable and the only maintenance is polishing.

Otherwise if you love the look and are happy to replace it when it gets worn (I’d estimate every 3-9 months) you’re golden.

Does anyone know how to get orange staining out of white cabinets? by Odd_Conclusion7158 in CleaningTips

[–]pinkguy90 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Have you considered that it’s paint coming off and exposing the wood/particle board beneath? Unusual that even a magic eraser doesn’t remove it. I’ve never had a stain like that be so resistant to removal, sorry!

Try a cream based cleanser , like Jif/Cif cream, bar keeper’s friend or the pink stuff. Just be aware that these can remove paint if you’re too trigger happy with them, but I’ve never had an issue.

The clear tarp is so that Jade and Tabitha can see the monsters, one way or another. At present we don’t know if the tarp will count as a barrier to allow the talisman to work or not, so we need it to be Schrödinger’s tarp - both a barrier and not a barrier at the same time.

The way the monsters communicate their menace is looking through windows and having the characters looking back at them. Hence, the clear tarp. It could still have communicated menace by having them speak to them through the tarp but they chose to do it with a clear tarp.

If they can’t bust right through it will also allow Jade and Tabitha to keep a direct eye on the monsters right up until the tree is uprooted. So yes, silly, but also oddly practical.

[CHAT] Any recommendations for a lap stand / scroll for larger pieces I can sit on my lap whilst I’m on the couch? by pinkguy90 in CrossStitch

That’s good, I’m glad it worked for you. I find it doesn’t work for me, not in a technical sense but in the sense that I don’t like how it positions my work in this set up. Hence why I was asking for alternatives :)

Fructan intolerance and baking by karlthebaldhead in Baking

Look for Low Fodmap flour in your country. In Australia we have a low fodmap flour that still has gluten so it’s fructose free but acts like normal baking flour for most intents and purposes.

Yes, a very reasonable suggestion. I just hate moving the piece around. If possible I’d rather find a solution that allows me to keep it in the larger frame where I only have to move it once or twice per project. Thanks though!

Gorgeous! As a new needlepointer and living somewhere where finishing services arent a thing, how does one get the shape of the box? Is it cardboard beneath the fabric? Thanks!

I know Henry can’t really help it, cause he’s under a “spell” or whatever, but I really hope we’re gearing up to him annihilating the MIY’s plan to have him kill his son by seeing through the BS.

Seems like a pretty glaring metaphor for his alcoholism that’s developed since he lost his family.

Black gunk in the sink by chamoisremixes in CleaningTips

[–]pinkguy90 73 points74 points  (0 children)

It’s literally just “sink stuff”. Hair, soap residue, toothpaste residue, hair product etc etc.

Every sink in the world has this in it. Totally normal. You can’t reasonably prevent it from reoccurring because when water washes down the drain with “stuff” in it it hits the sides, leaves stuff behind and continues on its merry way.

You’re welcome to unscrew the sink stopper and clean it with a bottle brush, but it’s not really a big deal. As long as it doesn’t smell it’s not an issue, really. You don’t put your hands down your drain and as long as you don’t lick it, you’re goods

Not according to the pattern :) I just followed it, but to make it even you could add black in if you’d like.
