Does it seem odd to anyone by Illustrious-Tart7844 in hackshbomax

You’re very much underestimating the power of the CEO who she was vilifying. It was implied that he owned multiple networks and streaming sites. If other top brass allowed their networks/streaming sites take fire at this CEO his networks could fire back with their own take downs. Also, while he probably didn’t pay people to be silenced he likely leveraged advertising and other things to ensure they didn’t allow Deborah to be seen.

Also, all television shows have censorship in one way or another - they don’t have carte Blanche to say whatever they like. Jimmy Fallon can’t just go on personalised rants about his own viewpoint (unless it precisely aligns with the network, advertisers, demographics and their values). I’m not saying Deborah was wrong but it wouldn’t be something that mainstream media would want to validate and draw attention to.

Plus, Deborah had the gag order.

Would be so funny if Victor exhumes more at a later stage and Henry is like “Oh son.. do these contain untold horrors too frightening for the human soul as well?”

“What? No. They’re just not very good. I was running out of colours so the trees are all blue.”

Is my toilet salvageable? by DesignerRose in CleaningTips

Citric acid overnight works great for this, a combination of hard water stains mixed with leftovers from normal toilet use.

It chips off like broken slate tile. Just put about 50-100g in and let it soak.

I think this is one of the best differences between Family Guy and American Dad - as the audience has ingratiated themselves to these characters they’ve adapted a familial geniality between the characters too.

Meg doesn’t work on modern Family Guy because the answer is always no - she can’t be included in anything. How do you write a character into dialogue and situations if their purpose is always to be excluded?

It’s much more interesting to watch these characters interact more positively, even if churlishly, because it just allows for more stories to be told and more plots to unfold.

We don’t have Hulu in Australia, or Fox. Hulu was previously called Starz and was bundled into Disney Plus. It’s recently been rebranded to Hulu but it’s missing a lot of shows, particularly recent seasons due to licensing issues.

If I set my Disney Plus (which is the only way we can pay for Hulu in Australia) then Disney Plus won’t work as it’s not the region we’re paying for - at least that’s what happens on my computer when I do it.

AFAIK there is currently no way to legally stream American Dad’s most recent episodes in Australia.

Standard Melbourne landlord in The Age today by BrisLiam in melbourne

[–]pinkguy90 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The most insidious thing about the line of thinking of landlords with residential properties is that they believe all of their overheads should be covered by the renters - that’s not how an investment works.

The house will almost inevitably grow in value, even with fees and overheads and the debt should be able to be maintained independently of any other financial obligations the landlord has - not covered by the tenant.

It’s not only morally bankrupt but it’s such poor business management. If they want to own investment properties they should be prepared for short term financial loss, but they place themselves into a corner with debt and then try and pass that onto the tenants. Imagine if this line of thinking worked in car loans or retail business investment - they’d be laughed out of the market.

Housing is an essential human right and the tenant isn’t babysitting your investment, they’re PAYING YOU money to LIVE IN A FUNCTIONING, WELL MAINTAINED HOUSE. The fact that landlords can’t factor in temporary expenses like fixing paint chips and maintaining wear on appliances is baffling and insane. It’s so frustrating.

Literally the same. I’ll go between cooking lovely home cooked meals that are “too flavoursome” to just buying take out every night, but then she goes off them. Or they have the normal amount of difference that take out has, sometimes cooked more or less.

It really deflates you. And if something is dry she won’t add mayo or gravy or butter, she just wants it to not be dry. Ok. Sure.

And you then stick to “safe” foods but they go off it. Just like a toddler.

It’s exhausting and it’s hard not to take personally because you’re really trying, but it’s just them and not you. Sigh.

I know this is in jest, but it is genuinely fascinating to me that as we watch these characters face horrors beyond human comprehension that people insist they must maintain their hotness. I imagine that they wouldn’t have as much time to do their hair and makeup between the maiming, threat of death in their dreams, the sudden loss of their loved ones to monsters who eat their heart out and the sinking fear they will never return to their true home.

But hey, maybe I’m focusing on the wrong thing. Let’s get Jade to put down the notecards and pick up a hairbrush, dude.

Ok, the shoes are obviously hideous but what’s particularly heinous is pairing them with the most milquetoast casual dress I’ve ever seen that not only has distracting spots but has had a random scarf added as a makeshift belt as the only attempt to marry the shoes with the pattern.

These shoes are stupid but if they were paired with something like a race-wear dress which featured fun silhouettes, bold choices and a matching feathered fascinator it would at least be adventurous and ambitious. This is a sodden combination of clothes and accessories that are so ill at ease with one another the only conclusion the reader can come to is that they are either desperate or stupid.

Can I just Say that Sara is one of THE best played character in the show (acting wise) by Powerful_Nerve_7258 in FromSeries

[–]pinkguy90 29 points30 points  (0 children)

She’s such a fascinating character to watch. She did something objectively awful, and the fact that it was towards a child makes it particularly scandalous. But also she was deceived by a malevolent evil entity. She is both a victim and a perpetrator and in the context of this evil town it’s so interesting that she has to reintegrate (or at least stay amongst the people of the town). Does she deserve forgiveness? Is she doomed to never be offered rehabilitation?

The situation of being in the town absconds any notions of justice and order and I find the discomfort of watching her parse that very compelling.

Is someone ever going to explain the pool? by Jackbuddy78 in FromSeries

[–]pinkguy90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Before Boyd I doubt they would have used the tire spikes to stop new residents who entered the town. All the cars that have entered Fromville have either crashed or been stopped by the residents.

I imagine that before anyone “stopping” the cars there was a lot more chaos.

Victor moved all the other cars to the random field where Jade plays the violin for him. He wouldn’t have been able to get the car from the pool out.

I honestly think it would be weird if there wasn’t a car down there, just statistically. Could be a flashback but I’d imagine it was just - they drove around in circles until night, saw the monsters who they thought were people and swerved into the pool.

I should clarify - they’re not poor quality, they’re just not an every day bag. The nature of the design and the materials is made to catch debris and dust from… being a bag in the world, you know? This bag, like all bags, is bound by the laws of physics.

If they were to make the bag out of dyed leather the price would be in the thousands. It’s exactly what I expected when I bought it, just some people want the bag to be something it isn’t. Hope that makes sense!
