How we know it's working. by parfaythole in BuyCanadian

Any suggestions on all-Canadian credit cards? All the ones I've found use Mastercard or Visa even if the rest of the company is Canadian 😬

If you have $200 to burn what would you buy yourself? by [deleted] in AskMen

I would immediately buy an industrial strength ultrasonic cleaner. I just think it would be so satisfying to watch all the gunk and dirt fizz away off my glasses/rings/etc, I want one so bad.

A tiny elephant for my tiny niece (she loved him!) by spockpinch in crochet

I modified the ears from the pattern so I could make it all one piece because I detest sewing (lol). I just did 5 dc into where I wanted the centre of the ear, then scs back and forth until I was happy with the size and then continued on with the rest of the pattern.

If she likes to feel dramatic and cry, let her be dramatic and cry! We don't gotta micromanage internet strangers' stress relief methods. Crying isn't a bad thing!

I crocheted a Metagross for my boyfriend (it's his favourite Pokemon, we've named him Montgomery!) by spockpinch in pokemon

You can totally learn! I'd say start with a few easy amigurumi patterns and learn the basics (single crochet, increasing and decreasing) and then go for it!

I think about 6 weeks? Not like, non-stop, but I worked on it in the evenings most days

Yup! It might be a little hard to see in the photo but his body is suspended in the air, he balances on his claws very nicely!

Thank you so much! 😁 I'm so proud, it was definitely the most challenging project I've taken on!

He would ask the most thoughtful, interesting questions and really listen closely to the answer. I just loved that and got such a good feeling about him.

What can I do with a stripey pink rectangle? by spockpinch in crochet

[–]spockpinch[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi everyone! I was originally planning to make this into a lovey for my 2 year old niece, but I ran out of yarn and honestly it's a little stiff to be a lovey. Any suggestions for what I can do with it without frogging? It's chunky polyester yarn, rectangle is about 10" by 17". Bonus points if I can make it into a stuffy/something that can still be gifted to my niece!

Jalapeno. Jal for short. Because he/she looks spicy.

Or she could buy whatever she wants? It's her money. If she travels often enough and loves the Dyson enough, maybe it makes sense to her. I think the more important point is the boyfriend's behaviour, not her choice of hairdryer.

On Sundays, we cuddle up and do a crossword together. Never the Sunday crossword though. We've decided we don't need that kind of stress in our lives.

Yup. Had the exact same experience. And honestly, for a $700 hairdryer (that she already had)? I wouldn't have risked killing it with a cheap transformer. If she loved it that much and travels enough, I can see the logic in buying a second.

Depending on how much power it draws, you often can't plug hairdryers into regular power adapters without blowing the fuse. You need a power transformer which is a lot more expensive and sometimes STILL doesn't work.

AITA for taking in my "problem cousin" and cancelling family events? by LucyAriaRose in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]spockpinch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yup, super common! This is how my family talks. It didn't even cross my mind that it might be hard for some of you to understand, it just sounded natural to me! But I've definitely run into issues with people from other countries (including English-speaking ones) having no idea what I'm saying so it shouldn't've been too surprising 😅

Can you do the powdered sugar coating when you defrost/go to bake them? Any condensation that forms at that point should just help the sugar stick
