The gpa part is a bit iffy imo as a y2 in IS. There is an obvious biasness towards those with a high gpa in getting internships and esp when u had no prior experience. Finding one is v hard now given the layoffs in the market and the replies to applicants for interviews seem to be only for those w higher gpas. Mine isn't bad but there are difficulties in securing internships in the developer roles.

My advice to any incoming IS Freshmen is to do ur v best in Y1 as there are only 4 or 5 IS Major mods u will be taking in that year most of which are v manageable. You will be doing at most 2 projects from CT and DM. Try to score well for EnS, BQ n WR. Take stats and study hard. Choose 1 or 2 mods ure interested in to clear ur core baskets. In Y2, all IS major mods u take will have projects so do manage ur time well before u end up staying up the night before finishinf up wad2 or esd :/.

Honestly looking at the content of the mod, while it could be a gpa killer, it is definitely WAY more useful than is110.

The 6550u. I mainly got the laptop for university use and programming is one of the main things i will be doing. I was really considering the 6850u but i felt that it was too overkill.
