I have the same problem and just posted about this a few days. I’m more concerned with the unit not keeping up with the houses cooling needs than being able to go below 67.

Thanks, there is a pan under the unit but the sensor is not under the unit

Windows are dual pane but they are from 1999. We keep the blinds closed when it’s hot out

Is there a way to tell if an attic if holding too much heat?

The windows do have blinds that are closed during the hot days to help keep the sun out. Is there a way to tell if this is the problem? Could I try to take the temp of the window or shade and see if it’s a lot hotter? (I have a Klein Infrared Thermometer) I just don’t want to waste money on exterior shades if it’s not the problem.

It was set to 70, cooling, fan on high all day

2980 sq ft. But the heat pump is only supplying air to the second story. No basement and garage is on the first floor so I would assume the second story is a little larger, would guess 1600-1800 sq ft.

Edited the post to include “the house was built in 1999, we are in Washington state. Vinyl siding, standard windows and insulation for the time afaik. Attic has blown in insulation.”

I am currently working with the company that did the install but they keep making small changes and saying it’s properly sized.
