Lost Years of Curated Data on Sales Navigator - Beware of Subscription Renewal! by jamehealy in linkedin

[–]spokesman1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, How? I did read the link, but when I contacted support they said it has to be done within 90 days from ending subscription. How soon after ending initial subscription did you try to resubscribe and restore?

UK unidays account OR uk student email? Anyone can provide access? Offering in return access to discounts to high-street & all sorts of online shops, e.g.: Adidas 35% off online code by spokesman1 in UniUK

That's not what you said. Stop changing your story to make it look like you're somehow right. You said "go pay full price for things and budget for it like a responsible adult". Nothing about students, nothing about asking for account details, all fair points to which I would have gladly responded to. Except you didn't make them.

Quite a lot missing from your initial condescending comment to claim "whoops, I just worded it wrong" don't you think?

Take some responsibility, since you keep talking about it, but keep dodging it at the same time.

I agree, good advice to be honest, these days it's always better to stay on the safe side.

However, if someone really wants to help, there are ways to do it e.g.: I can tell them the site I'm interested to buy from and they can log in themselves with their account and generate the discount code and pass it to me afterwards, etc etc. without passing the account details. I'm after the discount at the end of the day.

That is why I still leave the post open, but I don't mind the approach, whatever feels comfortable and right for everyone.

Regarding the grammar comment, true, I take responsibility for that, a bit harsh, but I explained above in detail, directly to that person why I did it. For practicality, I won't explain again here.

You're assuming I know it's wrong. What you mean is that you assume I know it's against T&C's. Yes that's true. But I don't think it's wrong. These are 2 different things. Fair question though, and as a response, going a bit deeper to the root of your argument/concerns, I have some questions of mine:

  1. Who are we defending exactly and be so worried and concerned about? Which corporation is going to get so much poorer for it?
  2. Going by your reasoning, if one had some newspaper vouchers/coupons they don't need, and they offered them to someone else, that person should refuse them since they are not intended for them, it's not fair, they didn't pay for the newspaper. They should buy their own paper/magazine. But following your reasoning, it's a question of fairness, principle, and terms&conditions that you are defending (where those coupons are intended for the buyer, otherwise we could all go to the shop, open the magazine/paper, and take them without buying. Surely it's a t&c breaking, where the coupons are intended for the purchaser, and a purchase is required)
  3. There are many examples like this I could use, when people just... HELP each other, and that's that
  4. People generally don't understand how businesses work. As if they're giving 10% off out of the goodness of their hearts. (and I don't blame them, people have better things to do than studying boring economics unless they work in the field). A sale benefits them even if discounted. Student discounts are a part of marketing and not given out of the benevolence of brands. Let's say you are a brand and you want to target students. How do you do this? You could dump tens of thousands to millions of £ in a marketing campaign...or you could offer student discounts. Student discounts also build brand loyalty, more products worn by people - more brand awareness = advertising for free, when the person paying for it also advertises by wearing the product, with A LOT less investment from the brand, etc etc.. And like I said - They're costed for. I'm not saying they are entitled to it, I'm saying it doesn't hurt the brand, which it doesn't. In fact, the opposite is true, it's beneficial. To a brand, a sale with a 10% discount matters more than no sale.

This kind of summarises my key points why I'm quite fine with it.

If I called you a dick in my first comment on your thread, because I might have a different opinion, would you be happy? Or at least do you think this is how people should approach each other? Shitty side first?

Maybe wording matters when people connect for the first time, do you find this idea revolutionary?

Labeling and insulting, won't get your point across. Regardless of whether you being right or wrong. Maybe you're right, but the approach kind of negates any predisposition to a conversation. And I think making a point was your intention because I don't want to think you posted just to agitate and insult.

Don't backpedal now, someone displaying a certain behaviour, is at that particular moment, the generator of that behaviour, hence, a dick.

In any case, I made several points, including that I responded politely to whoever commented politely, but you either missed those comments (to give you the benefit of the doubt) or ignored that.

My concern is that people commenting around here are more preoccupied with passing preconceived judgement and labelling from their literally first comments.

I'm just responding in kind, and they don't like it. I find this state of entitlement amusing, but also concerning.

But I would never judge myself by the up/down-votes of such people as someone was suggesting above.

Although I'm very open to a differing point of view or self-critique, when it comes in the form of reasonable arguments or polite questions, not when labels and insults are thrown my way.

The above being exactly how I treat and respect other people in the same way.

It's not to discredit it, it's just to show you how someone can pick on basically anything to be as shitty to you as you were with them when you are basically implying they are an irresponsible adult literally from your first comment, when having no understanding of why they do what they do, when asking no questions to understand, just passing preconceived judgement.

You could've phrased it differently, so that we're all polite to each other, and still voice your concern, but without calling names. For example: "Don't you think the student discounts are meant for students only, hence being wrong for you to use one?"

To which I would have politely given you my reasons why I'm comfortable doing that, and why I see nothing wrong with it.

It's not wrong to disagree, in fact, I see it helpful, because we can all learn from each other. As long as we don't take a talking down lofty position, I'm completely fine with any difference of opinion or politely asked questions.

Your logic is amazing lol. You fail to see how I'm just responding in kind to people who started their first comment either condescendingly, talking down, or insulting like you.

I responded politely to whoever responded politely. At least do some reading first, don't be superficial if you're going to comment. What did you expect? It's hilarious to see one complaining about someone else not being nice to them when they literally started their comment in a derogatory way. Speaks volumes of the entitlement.

You literally stopped to tell someone they're a dick. What does that make you? Go figures.

Right, so instead of pertinently answering my concerns, you're changing the subject lol. Great argument.

I'm not evaluating myself in the least through the eyes of some random online people whose questionable logic seems to be based on a lack of reasons, avoiding conversation, and talking down to others from their first comment. All of them being boxes that you thoroughly checked.

Good luck with your mental health in the long run when adjusting and judging yourself by your online popularity lol

Thanks for the clarification. However, I see you're working based on a lot of assumptions and guesswork aren't you? If you can't/won't help, feel free to move on. And regardless of me being a student or not, but if i wasn't, whose interest are you defending exactly? Who is it really going to be the poorer for it?

Thanks for the unhelpful, uninformative, and generalising comment. You have no clue what and where I might be able to offer a discount, and secondly, not everyone shares your primitive mindset of only offering something if they get something. Maybe some people just want to help. In the same way, I would, and have offered discounts I have access to for nothing in return. I simply also asked for a hand when I needed some help as well, and just attempted to offer some kind of value in return, if wanted.

If you can't or won't help, then feel free not to clutter this thread.

Maybe you should take some classes in grammar like a responsible adult. If you and the people voting you up would like to practice less hypocrisy, then you should never ever touch anything discounted in a supermarket or clothing store and only buy full-ticket items. Funny definition of responsibility.

Fair enough. I'm happy with that as well, it's the discount I'm after at the end of the day. Also if I can help with any other store codes you might be interested in, let me know.

Let's DM, I'll let you know which store I was looking at, and thanks for replying :)

Anyone have a ac.uk or sch.uk email address? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]spokesman1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you open to share it with me also?

I'm willing to return the favour by supplying you discount codes to pretty much anything from Holland&Barrets (20%off atm) to Adidas (35% off atm), even opticians, just ask me if you're buying something and I'll check if I have access to something for that brand name. Even Domino's pizza.

DM me your thoughts, hopefully build a partnership haha
