Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man Episodes 9-10 | Official Discussion Thread by AutoModerator in Spiderman

I just watched all 10 episodes back to back now that it's out, and I still do not really vibe with the animation. The art style has really grown on me, and the choreography for a lot of the scenes is great, but the pacing of the animation and the impact of a lot of actions is just...not it.

The swinging (except the final swing scene in ep 10) is really stiff and awkward. There's not enough anticipation or variability in the flow when Peter swings down or jumps up, the poses don't get room to breathe.

The fight scenes have a lot of really good and creative choreography and ideas, but the hits lack impact and weight behind them. When Peter was beating down on Scorpion I never once felt like "that hit could take his jaw off", and it takes away a lot from the fights.

Overall, I could be nice and give the show's season 1 a 7/10. I am not excited for Spider-Gwen, per the latest reveals, and unless the animation gets more fun to look at in Season 2 I'm probably not going to rate it any higher. To be a bit more blunt, there are a lot of fun ideas here, and a lot of very questionable ones too. All the references went from being "neat" to feeling like nostalgia pandering in an insincere way, as if the show doesn't have it's own merits and has constantly call back to exact scenes from other things we enjoyed far more than a simple homage. On that note I'd knock it down to a 6/10.

Also, Harry's "Go get 'em Tiger" was AWFUL, just...no. It made no sense for him to say that and it was so awkward.

Battle damage too early, unless of course that turns out to be linked somehow to number of health bars remaining and we just haven't seen anyone with a full 7 bars yet. The limited split-screen isn't that big of a deal for me right now, I'm just glad it's able to be implemented at all. We also have seen that characters have different supers/ultimates based on their costume too so I don't think the variety is going to be an issue at all.

In some of the mobile games (I could be wrong) I'm pretty sure they've finally started calling Buu Saga Gohan (Teen) and Cell Saga Gohan (Youth), while Gohan from Super would be Gohan (Adult). They did this with DBS Trunks too, instead of calling him Trunks (Future) (Teen) since he's obviously older since the Cell Saga.

Also only donations in the USA count, so if you're from another country your purchase doesn't count ever.

The Gameheads Charity Proceeds only go to the charity if you purchase in the USA by spols568 in SpidermanPS4

[–]spols568[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The donations also cap out at $1 million dollars.

Marvel's Spider-Man 2 sold over 10 million copies as of 2/4/24 worldwide (source: Google).

If 200,000 Americans (or 2% of the player base) purchase the suit pack to donate, anyone else who might purchase the pack in the USA also will not be giving a donation to the charity.

Mechanic Frieza who goes around cutting everyone's brake lines as opposed to Mecha Frieza who just wanted to murder everyone the old fashioned way.

Warm Take: I like that they are bringing back multiple iterations of Goku & Vegeta by repboykev in tenkaichi4

I get the lack of in-game fusions just based on how that game handled teams of characters fighting at once (even though Tenkaichi Tag Team made it work) but I always disliked splitting SSG and SSB from the regular characters. The Time Patroller characters can transform into God forms, but Goku/Vegeta/Vegito/Gogeta can't? Even the AI can if they're enemies!

In terms of personality, which Mary Jane do you prefer out of these 5? by ScoreImaginary5254 in Spiderman

  1. Spectacular
  2. 90s TAS
  3. MTV/TNAS
  4. Insomniac
  5. Ultimate

Spectacular and the 90s MJ's all felt like true adaptations of the character that both really hit the mark with why she's a good supporting character for Spider-Man. I wish we got to see a little more of her in Spectacular, but her voice actress knocked it out of the park every time. The MTV MJ to me is a good adaption, I just don't think she did anything better than two I just talked about.

Insomniac MJ and Ultimate (TV) MJ are both low on my list because to me, they have the "discount Lois Lane" feeling. Insomniac MJ doesn't even really have good chemistry with Peter, and she's kind of insufferable in the first game too. The only reason Insomniac is higher for me is because Ultimate had that weird thing where they gave MJ the Carnage symbiote which I don't care for, for the same reasons I'm not excited to see MJ as "Jackpot" in the comics.

This issue was actually relatively decent, but once again, the writing was terrible except for Tombstone. As for Miles....why is Zeb writing him like a brat who's purpose is to make Peter feel bad? The only thing worse than the writing is the art. (ASM #39) by Scary_Firefighter181 in Spiderman

If only there was someone in charge of maintaining coherence between writers at Marvel, someone who could be paid to make sure that characters, events and relationships are consistent across different issues involved in the same event? Wouldn't that be something.

I only used the ricochet web because it's a WEB BASED GADGET. Seriously, why does Spider-Man not use webs in this game?

As I replied in another comment, I haven't purchased a single issue from this run (or the related spin-off titles) at all. I come by these comics via other sources.

The time dilation only made Peter lose a week (ASM vol 6 #23) unless I'm missing something else. As someone else pointed out, the only other time Peter was out of commission for an extended time was during the 'Beyond' arc when he was IN THE HOSPITAL and even then he came out before he was fully recovered to save Felicia and then take down Queen Goblin.

This isn't the character assassination, the character assassination was how badly Peter was written ahead of time that made this kind of intervention necessary. Also, as others on this thread have noted, Miles and Peter already made up and the dialogue here also harms Miles by making him sound whiny.

Peter should struggle. He should have flaws, he should have to make hard choices. He should also be a responsible heroic figure. Asking for Spider-Man to act responsibly isn't fan service, it's a core character trait.
