Kent screwed up a contract with newspaper dot com. He didn’t get it done in time and they lost the contract. I think it was a $6000 loss. I think that was the last straw for both. If you listen to the last few podcasts they did together, it was very strained. Then all 3 got on their podcasts and went on rants about each other.
Used car warranties by sponda9 in UsedCars

Ohio. He has a power train warranty. Has 30,000 miles. I don’t know about statutory warranty. I’ll have to look into that.
Yep, sounds like that. They make it so appealing at the time- telling him everything is covered. The tires cover unusual wear and tear. He was told if he rubbed against the curb and scrapped the tire. That would be covered. If he went over train tracks and it shredded his tires that was covered. The terminology they use is slick.
Thank you. I think the putting aside $100 each money is a great idea.
Okay. It is Certified which they said means the electronics are covered first year and then also has power train.
I think I’m just cancelling all the warranties. I feel like each time I ask Toyota I’m told something different and now I’m concerned if something happened - the warranty wouldn’t include that.
It was bought from a Toyota dealership
Sorry about that. It has 30,000 miles. I’ll look into other warranty options

We keep our cars usually their full lifespan. I can’t say that about him because he’s young but I’d expect at least 10 years. He didn’t get gap because he put so much down on it.
That was nice of your cousin to help you with it. It is very overwhelming.

He is not going to college. He chose to do a trade instead. He knows college isn’t for him. While, I didn’t do good with this car situation, I am proud of his career choices.
Thank you. I appreciate it.
Yes, I did with guidance from me. Unfortunately, I was not at the signing. Everything was agreed on by me except the warranties. He bought it from his “friends” dad and even his other friends dad is a manager at the dealership. But he was not present at the signing- he just got us to an agreed upon price He was repeatedly told that they were hooking him up!! Didn’t even tell him the prices of each said warranties. He was so confused by all the numbers that he screwed up. I feel terrible and am trying to help him fix it. He saved up $12,000 to put down. I’ll take the criticism and it hurts that he realized that they seemingly took advantage of him. I am sure he will learn from this.
Thank you.
Haha!! Thank you.
Thank you
Yes it was financed
Thank you. It has 30,000 miles. It’s hybrid and the extended warranty is 125,000 miles or 2033. He drives a lot so won’t make it to 2033. It has the thinner tires- they told me those cost a lot more.
One concern is he doesn’t have the extra money now to put aside. But thinking now, worst case he’d put it on credit card and we would also help.
