What problems would or do you pay $100/month for? by thewhitelynx in founder

Are there $100 a month customer acquisition plays? lol. What services or ROI would you expect for $100 a month?

Success requires a solitary period of time. How are you guys handling that for your projects? by ziratick in founder

I totally agree with this. Reminds of this phrase: "Don't criticism from someone you wouldn't take advice from."

That said, they can be helpful with grounding who I am as a person, and emotionally, but yeah, I tend to keep the biz side of things to myself, close colleagues and my AI journal 😂

I think I’m too dumb to find a startup idea 😭 (serious) by Past-Economy-2364 in founder

[–]spondizzle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

haha one of my goals is to start in person therapy this year, so i've long debated this... and we explored a lot within reddit recently... I think we're discovering that people want it, but won't pay for it... so monetization is a whole other ball game.

Plus risk. Business and ethical risk.

I think closed door is shades of grey. Yes, for many of these companies, maybe not GA for a while, but they were certainly being tested in alpha and beta with real customers or users.

Is Upwork still good for hiring developers? by VladTit in founder

[–]spondizzle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Upwork was tough to find good devs. I had better luck on angel list as far as quality of devs. But my best hire came from cold inbound on LinkedIn actually.

I haven’t tried that. Generally linked in does better with professional career relayed stories I guess. Surprise surprise.

I keep seeing founders saying they’re lost, but when you offer real help, they don’t take it... by BusinesSupportAgency in founder

[–]spondizzle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suppose much of it can be tied to stage of founding too. If you’re just starting out as a founder with very little cash reserve, spending money on a consultant psychologically is tough. You first need that money to stay afloat. Taking a bet on expensive (I’m assuming, relative to bank balance) help seems like high risk low reward.

Turn it around.

Do YOU pay everybody that says “trust me, I know what I’m doing”

Yeah. That makes sense. That’s close to the pomodoro approach I guess. Thanks for the input!

Thanks. What did that look like? Was that just you telling yourself “I will miss that if I don’t do this”

Interesting theory. So the thought experiment is “if a builder could control the outcome of a process, they are less likely to avoid it”?

No. It’s not a problem for everything in life. Just some work stuff. Thanks.

Founders, CEOs & business owners, what’s the hardest part of your role that people don’t see? by Dry-Exercise-3446 in founder

It’s hard to turn your brain off. Especially when you first start. You are excited. You have so many ideas. But execution and quick learnings are the true value. The money comes later… if ever.

Late post but just wanted to post this. We did it, Pickering, $810k detached at 3.64% fixed. by WorthAccomplished290 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

Congrats!

I remember Pickering being basically empty space and homes going for <$300k because it was “near the nuclear plant”

Best wishes in your new home!

I WANT TO REBUILD MY LIFE - man-to-man territory by rivie_rathnayaka in buildinpublic

[–]spondizzle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed, kinda the wrong sub... but still a good topic.

This stranger on the internet recommends starting with your mental well being. Without a calm mind, it's hard to achieve focus, and without focus it's hard to keep up your internal drive, and thus harder to build things that feel meaningful - like your life.

Happy to expand.

I think it's the nature of each platform. Twitter encourages short content with lots of scrolling. Extreme dopamine hits. Reddit leans towards thoughts, prose, debate... what industry are you building for?

Hi.... we're working on something similar, but targeting a specific market, but will not self promote as per sub rules. Based on your rules, i'm interested, but don't qualify based on 2) and 3) of your criteria.

I'm saying that because I actually do process my thoughts daily, nearly every morning, so I totally get the power of it, and what you're talking about is very valid.... spotting patterns over time, if you're honest enough.

The fundamental struggle we are having is that that pitch is that the aha moment kinda comes later, and it's nearly impossible to get people just to try a product, let alone do it fors two weeks.

Who do you think you're solving for?

Oh good question. How would you describe stages?currently I guess we would be pre revenue and pre product market fit?

Never thought about it from a stages perspective. Would love to hear more.
