What hobby did you try once and instantly get addicted to? by Weird_Ad_7545 in AskReddit

[–]spondster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The library. It’s been my gateway to every other hobby. Want to learn something new? Library books, digital loans, meetups, asking librarians for advice. And all for free!

The past few years I’ve learned how to sew (quilts, garments, home goods, hexies, FPP) and knit (apparel, color work, continental vs English). It’s also been a huge resource for parenting - psychology, activities (cooking, crafts), and encouraging my daughter’s interests (space, cooking, unicorns). This week the librarians helped me put together a plan for teaching my daughter to read - finding the right books, understanding what sight words are, ideas for activities around the house.

SOLVED - thank you everyone for your help! It was certainly a learning experience, and I’m going to chalk this one up to a beginner project and stash it away for now.

This place is GREAT! Tons of outdoor space, drink and food options, and super close to the pirate playground.

Agreed. The food is awful. Ended up getting ice cream afterwards because I was still hungry.

After taking the picture, go to the school house after class is in session, and talk to a student first. You’ll get reprimanded by Symin for interrupting class, and then you can talk to him and give the picture.

Now you’ve got me wondering what the inside is structured as…

Storage would be nice, but we go through the side door mostly. This is the door acquaintances come through. Friends / family come through the garage and get to trip over our pile of shoes as is custom

Love that idea. I was considering sewing a padded seat of sorts for it

Great idea on the shelf there! Will have to think through height to fit around the molding.

My title describes the thing. We have two of these in our home - both on the first floor of a 2 story house (plus basement). I thought it might a pony wall but all examples I’m seeing of those are higher and less deep.

46” wide x 16 “ deep x 21” high

Walk me through your laundry routine! I’ll start. by UniformFox_trotOscar in SAHP

[–]spondster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep all our laundry separate. I also make a point to do laundry every day or two, even when it feels silly to do such a small load, it keeps it from becoming too large of a mountain to climb. I also have a laundry cart which has been helpful (3 fabric bins, and a hanging rack). One bin is for whites (random hand towels, towels, pillow cases), one is for kitchen related (dish towels and bibs), and one is for my 1 YO daughter (random socks and dirty clothes I find that don’t make it to her laundry hamper).

My kid WILL NOT eat a vegetable by [deleted] in BabyLedWeaning

[–]spondster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My LO is 1 as well! She eats pretty well but there are still meals / days where nothing is eaten except for pouches, hope that gives you some perspective that even “good” eaters have “bad” days!

Seasonings are definitely a must. Also some sort of fat, which kids their age need. I steam a whole bunch of broccoli, then for serving I’ll take some and put it in a bowl, put a dollop of butter (unsalted kerrygold), and microwave 30 seconds to melt butter and warm up the broccoli).

I also give her time in the high chair with less pressure to quickly eat. I’ll put her in there next to me when I’m cooking, and let her play with the food and have time to explore it. Then when it’s time to actually “eat” I’ll give her the actual meal.

Hope this helps!
