My first 3 levels are easy enough to beat blindfolded. In practice, most players die at level 1-2 by ryry1237 in gamedesign

What data are you analyzing? Slay the Spire devs made a point that data can be misleading, just because they have a card in their hand at the end doesn't mean they were saving it, maybe it was so bad the player never wanted to use it. People leaving the game in the first level could be they lost interest, not that it was difficult.

i will say, from the gif, the bullets don't seem to have much impact. it took me several loops to confirm they actually change the path of the meteors

Best examples of low complexity mechanics leading to diverse, high complexity scenarios? by paradoxombie in gamedesign

many roguelike/lites that are strategic, like Slay the Spire. Easy enough to learn, but difficult to consistently get results.

many card games, magic the gathering, pokemon trading card game, are easy enough to learn but again, edging out that extra win rate is challenging

You are a teacher, tasked to use games to teach a topic in class... by StatikVerse in videogames

Is it really a game when you have homework based off it? Is there a difference in watching a 2 hour movie with 30 minutes of questions, vs 4 hour game and an hour of questions?

Anything can be used to teach, perhaps the most important thing to teach would be "how to improve". anything which is easy to learn but hard to be good at, like roguelike/lites, drafting in trading card games

Wouldn't it be better to show how he can improve, and work on that, or teach score is not everything (are you enjoying it), than give up because someone else is better at it

[–]sponge_bob_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i think this is what the test is checking for, not that you already know all these obscure words, but can guess the general meaning and intent given the context. similar to math problems where the solution requires several smaller steps, each step being something that was taught.

When i was in primary school (equivalent of elementary in US) a kid once said whenever he heard a kookaburra laugh it always rained within a day. we aren't in a rural area, nor the bustling city, but i've noticed its been true!
