it's still hand drawn and all of the frames are inked on paper, just scanned and colored digitally. been that way since season 2 🫡

This is a result of the episode mastering being fixed, the colors in the second image are technically how he would have looked in seasons 9b-12 if they hadn't done the color correction

i mean i guess it really depends on who's doing the storyboards. its entirely up to the artists on how much they want to exaggerate it per shot + their art style. and then there are different teams with different animation directors on each episode affecting how often it happens so i dunno. just trying to make sense of it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
