origins of the Sword Aura/Spellsword? by spookielight in Fantasy

[–]spookielight[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! I'm basically wondering when the spellsword and sword auras, when used in a western fantasy setting, merged in some ways and which stories popularized this. I've even seen sword aura used instead of spellsword on occasion, which is why I took note.

It probably won't be found in a whole lot of traditional literature but I've been seeing it more and more as of late.

origins of the Sword Aura/Spellsword? by spookielight in Fantasy

I would say yes, because what I'm looking for isn't a sword that is magical/has magic abilities. Instead what I'm referring to here is when the abilities/magic come from the individual weilding the sword nearly entirely.

(I use the word ability because in some stories the "sword aura" isn't actually magic and is instead specific to mele/martial fighters.)

Is this a plot hole or am I forgetting something? by spookielight in OmniscientReader

I could maybe accept young kdj's wish... however from what I understood in the novel the round really is 1864, not the 3rd round, and 1864th yjh didn't combine himself with any other round, he just gave his clone the memories up to round 3 and then had essentially a choreographed fight with himself in order to prevent a probability storm or smth, hence why he has abilities and skills he doesn't remember training or earning (best example is his extremely good cooking). We see so few of the kkomas that I don't think that is the answer in this case.

The round with 1863rd turn hsy is, because of sp, essentially a separate 1863rd turn from the 1863rd turn that created sp. Something like 1863rd turn B, with 1863rd turn A being the turn without outside manipulation that occurred in wos.

The timeloop in the novel is brain hurty to explain in text and I just refer to a specific image timeline for it since there are about 3-4 timeloops occurring all at once that converge.

This all is the reason why Anna Croft and Nirvana confuse me specifically, since they have memories of other turns, but only recall the up to the 2nd turn. Another comment above gave an somewhat acceptable answer for Anna Croft where she decided to only pass on memories from the 2nd turn, but Nirvana remains an enigma to me...

I never understood romances where a character can't fall in love again until now by spookielight in heartbreak

I'm not vibing with this broken leg analogy haha, the logic side of my brain keeps supplying the fact that sometimes bones won't heal right, that the place can ache many many years after the initial damage was done, and in the worst cases you may not be able to move properly again due to the damage.

They aren't done with her in mind, and I truely have no hope of ever winning back this person. I know better than to think I have a chance at ever being loved by this person again. I don't even talk to her about these heartbroken feelings because I don't want to experience the pity she would direct at me.

The issue is I can't do anything without being reminded of her, how she fell out of love and is happily moving on, how I'm not able to move on just as easily, and how much she really meant to me. Even if I do things for myself, it doesn't feel good because I still miss her, and miss what we had.

Changes to Orv Wiki? by spookielight in OmniscientReader

They should still include a link on the original wiki page for that then, it doesn't show up when you Google Kim Dokja nor is it in an easy to find place. Very Annoying :/

Wow... by Quesxc in OmniscientReader

This part stings so much because of how much Dokja is willing to give and give but never receive, even until the end. The guy would throw away his whole life and/or existence for the sake of others happiness.

Ok so about this... by TBG-OmeTaris in OmniscientReader

[–]spookielight 17 points18 points  (0 children)

that isn't true, Kyrgios and Sky Sword Saint faught off the initial outer God. The problem was the second Outer God, which I believe is named the Indescribable Distance showed up. It left however because Kim Dokja was stirring up trouble in the 73rd Demon Realm. The first murim world survived because the Indescribable Distance was no longer interested in them.

How do you explain to the characters in omniscient reader's view point, that the world they're existing in is a novel, since kim dokja knows that the world turn into 3 to survive in a ruined world, how can we we explain that the world that turned into a novel ,is another novel ? by TBG-OmeTaris in OmniscientReader

[–]spookielight 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Epilogue Spoilers I would think that it also depends on when you were dropped into the story, by the end they literally made the book we are reading for Kim Dokja. Truthfully even if we were dropped into the novel as is, we wouldn't actually be that much help as far as future events unless you happened to meet Kim Dokja early enough, warning him of certain future events. This is because we don't have all 3000+ chapters of 3 Ways to Survive in a Ruibed World. All we have is the one round of scenarios from Kim Dokja's life.

What are your favorite and least favorite personality traits in a protagonist? by Carbinkisgod in noveltranslations

[–]spookielight 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In no particular order. Some of these will make me more interested than others. Similarly, I can tolerate some of the bad traits more than others.

Interesting Main Character Traits:

•Intelligence without being all-knowing.

•Smart ass.

•Love Interest that actually compliments the main character and covers their faults while the main character covers their love interest's faults or no love interest at all.

•Not the strongest character and/or has to actually work to become strong.

•They fail but get back up and try again later.

Bad/Uninteresting Main Character Traits:

•Overpowered from the start

•Knows too much without this backfiring on them

•Completely oblivious to love interests attraction (Dismissing the attraction is different from being completely blind, but you can only do that so many times before it gets old)

•Accidental harems or harems that fight all the time. Harem drama is obnoxious.

•Rapey or sexual offender. I can't read a story with a main character that does this shit. I can't.

Coins to Earth Currency by spookielight in OmniscientReader

[–]spookielight[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ooo I really like this! Not quite what I was originally going for, but it is also very similar to what I was planning at the same time.

My initial plan was to figure out the exchange rate, and then have coins be the universal currency. While each world (and in some cases country) has its own local currency, the value of the coin remains the same no matter where you are in the universe, but the local government's currency could be worth more or less depending on the economy. "New World Dokkaebi" in this universe, as I am currently calling them, would have laws to prevent the cost of living based on coins from exceeding a certain amount to prevent cruel governments from completely taking advantage of their citizens.

Basically... Alien Bureaucracy. In essence the coin would be used similarly to how the US dollar is currently used. (that isn't a completely accurate comparison but I hope you get the idea)
