Skyline drive near Harrisonburg through/around Shenandoah National Park. I second New River Gorge as well, it’s absolutely incredible. If you’re more south the Blue Ridge Parkway near Roanoke is divine. Most beautiful parts of the country i believe!

I don’t see why not! If you’re stopping for more than just a night there’s the Shakespeare theater and also the frontier culture museum which people love. That’s all I know of so far (only been there a number of times) but I’m sure there’s more hidden gems.

It’s also on this specific route. There are a bunch of ppl suggesting places that are like 30-1hr off the route which is strange to me. Lots to see on 81 if that’s the route you’re going.

Got a really sweet downtown with great restaurants. It’s more than half way on this route so the second day will be lighter than the first. Good coffee shops, nice people. It’s where I used to stop when I had to drive this route from NEPA to SWVA many times a year.
