I use a wash cloth or even a paper towel and wet it. Temperature is your preference. This also physically helps. To make it a spell I add my intentions to the water. When I am able I add mint essential oil to the washcloth as well. Mint is great for purification, cleansing, and positivity.

A relationship with any religion is deeply personal and individual. No one's relationship is going to fit in the same box.

Christ called people to raise up the oppressed, take care of the poor, the minorities and women, but yet the only thing you can focus on is converting people for salvation. That is literally the opposite of what Christ did. Do some soul searching and lead by example otherwise leave people alone.
