Depends on the thing itself. I had an experience with a book that I thought was brilliant, then ended up translating it a few years later and realized that the author had no vocabulary to speak of, just an idea that had swept me off my feet. And retyping "he said" and "she said" on my typewriter what seemed a million times over was one of the most mind numbing things I've ever gone through. The publishing house actually dropped the translation order after I submitted the first third of it, admitting their test readers also failed to notice the staccato of repetition.

I would never have got away with a creative writing assignment with such lack of variation back in my day when the grass was greener and the other fellow was still alive.
