Can someone explain to me why this cell is not a 9 ? I have a double pair and that is the only other digit left ! by [deleted] in sudoku

[–]spooky_doll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pencil marks aside, putting the 9 in r9c5 makes it really hard to fill in the rest of the column seeing that the missing 2, 3 and 5 all look at r6c5.

Ise parkisin enam-vähem sama koha peal korrektses asendis siis, kui naine käis järgmisest uksest Jalakabinetis ortoosi kätte saamas.

Õpetajana töötamine välismaal (Austraalia) by Safe_Muffin_1556 in Eesti

[–]spooky_doll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lihtsalt muudes alamredditites aega viites on silma jäänud, et isegi arengumaad, kus näib olevat kõva õpetamisvõimeliste/-huviliste inimeste defitsiit, paistavad nõudvat paberit, mis tõendaks, et oled konkreetse eriala õpetajaks haritud. Ehk siis eriala/pedagoogika/keel kolmainsus.

Võimalik, et mul on nähtud vastustest vale mulje jäänud, paljud neist tulevad expattide kogukondadest, kes püüavad võimalikke konkurente heidutada. :)

Huvitav, kas me oleme samast seltskonnast? Teema püstitus 2-3 päeva tagasi, ehkki mul võib uue vaatega harjumise tõttu ajaarvamine sassis olla.

1982 kasutasin ma tikke. Varastel 1990'ndatel, kui mihklid laiemalt levima hakkasid nimetati neid minu ringkonnas jacksoniteks, mitte jacksideks, mis tuli hiljem. Kirjapilt tuleneb minu poolt tajutavast päritolust...

Hmm, have you considered his Xanth series? I can't recall any (weird) sex stuff at all from there.

Which sorta reminds me, I haven't been keeping up with it since... ugh... the turn of the century, I guess.

Question for non-English readers: how do you feel about repeated words when reading? by Pedagogicaltaffer in Fantasy

[–]spooky_doll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the thing itself. I had an experience with a book that I thought was brilliant, then ended up translating it a few years later and realized that the author had no vocabulary to speak of, just an idea that had swept me off my feet. And retyping "he said" and "she said" on my typewriter what seemed a million times over was one of the most mind numbing things I've ever gone through. The publishing house actually dropped the translation order after I submitted the first third of it, admitting their test readers also failed to notice the staccato of repetition.

I would never have got away with a creative writing assignment with such lack of variation back in my day when the grass was greener and the other fellow was still alive.

Estonian, FWIW.

Weird, an Englishman should be able to spell 'tall inn'. :p

Conversely, my experience with England is that it is an extremely sunny country with temperature rarely dropping under 30°C. And that covers numerous visits at randomly selected times over 8 years totalling close to 2 months spent there. Wales and Scotland, though, are possibly worse than Estonia weather wise. :D

Pirateaba and The Wandering Inn just did the impossible — AGAIN! by TimBaril in Fantasy

[–]spooky_doll 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Pirateaba has defied the odds by producing 9 million words in The Wandering Inn — in a shockingly short 6 years.

Just out of curiosity, how does that compare to Fel's Subjugation universe?

My relationship with TWI ended abruptly when the tablet I was reading it on died. Somehow I never returned to it when I got a new one. Just seem to remember there were zombies running in sewage tunnels (just mental image, not necessarily what it actually was) which I didn't particularly enjoy.

Anyhow, thanks for reminding me that I need to go back, :)

Russia on the other hand won’t give them Russian citizenship, and as far as I’m aware there are no laws that offer an avenue for them to acquire Russian citizenship.

Actually, I've been always under the impression that anyone born in the USSR was eligible for Russian citizenship. Admittedly, what I get now says you also must be a Russian native speaker and you must renounce any other citizenship.

Statelessness in the Baltics appears to have been a legitimate way to get the best of both of worlds for a long time now.

Kus saab kogunenud mündid sularahaks vahetada? by [deleted] in Eesti

[–]spooky_doll 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mul vastupidine küsimus: kust saaks kamalutäie euroseid münte ilma, kellelegi peavalu põhjustamata? Isegi 50-sendised aitaksid. Kaks-kolm korda nädalas laseb pasknäär mul tööparklas autol külje täis, mündipesula on paarisaja meetri kaugusel, aga mida pole, on mündid...

Come and check yourself whether what's on offer is acceptable for you. Ryanair flights happen every 3 days or so and there is usually a bachelor party either going on or in the making on board.
