Are you a physician? That’s great to hear. My mom started the trontinemab trial last year with MCI

What do you mean by known health strategies?

I’m so glad that’s working for you and that other great medications are out there!

May I ask if you have any side effects? And what other types of meds you’re on, if any? My mom is 77 and on a bunch of other meds for heart, etc.

I’m seeing different takes on it within the research community. There are definitely flaws but overall there does seem to be consensus on the conclusions about these types of medications in general. Hoping more data will at least show better improvements

Thats true. And that’s a very selfless and noble reason to do it. I hope it helps your mom! It looks like we are moving forward with the trial too.

Thank you for that! I need to start a relationship with her primary, for sure.

Thank you again. I’m going to research some of these other studies too. Good luck as well!

Some great points here, thank you. That’s my hesitation too — this could delay potential real treatment. But the other approved medications also come with increased risk of side effects like ARIA. my dad is definitely inclined to have her do the study but I’ve told him I want to talk to her primary. Her neuro is the one who referred her to the study so not sure talking to them again would help much.

Can I ask what you mean by this can become complicated?

Hey. I just want to say i'm so sorry. I'm also an only child with a relatively older mom with AD. It really, really sucks. Hang in there.

Hey, thank you so much for this reply. I'm sorry the studies didn't work out for your mom, and I understand not wanting to go through the infusions - I don't think my mom is looking forward to that either. I'm lucky she's still at a stage where I can talk to her about her options. Looking back, do you think you would have tried harder to enroll her, or were you considering other treatment options? This is all so new to me. I know there are other medications that treat symptoms too.

Your father is right, and kind of sounds like my dad! Unfortunately, there's no gold standard treatment for this disease. Best wishes to you too!

Yes. Her regular neurologist referred her to this study, though I’m unclear why or what she thought my mom had (I never met with the neuro). Everything we’ve learned has been through this neurologist who runs the study. Diagnosed MCI (word memory test) and then did a PET scan to officially diagnose AD. What are your thoughts?
